Meili Beach Resort — Hotel in Cebu

Meili is the best mid-range resort out of 6 resorts I have so far visited on Cebu and Panglao (Bohol) islands - and surprisingly the cheapest. Meili is a place that saved my holidays from a heartbreak.||||ROOM||Rooms are fantastic. They are constructed in a smart way, flow of fresh air can constantly circulate and the rooms do not get moldy smell like in so many other places. They are very cosy, they have luxurious feel. They are very comfortable, with lots of natural light, big windows. They have everything you need - wardrobes, table, chairs, small tables next to beds, small lamps next to beds. Beautiful curtains in windows. There is a small kitchen with all you need to prepare a meal or tea/coffee.||||BED||Large beautiful wooden bed, soft, comfortable. Soft pillows. You get a sheet to cover yourself, and an extra thicker sheet in case you were cold. Impeccably clean.||||BATHROOM||Big, with lots of light, immaculately clean, glass shower cabin, glass shelves above the sink. A beautiful bathroom. Warm water anytime.||||LOCATION & THE PLACE||The town, Alcoy, is quite nice. Meili is away from the main road, away from any noise, away from the locals. It's a quiet, tranquil place at the sea. For me personally, this was a big plus. It's an away place, but not too far from the village. I arrived with a habal-habal as I only had a small luggage, a few minutes ride from a bus stop and 1-2 euro to the driver. Easy to find. If you do not have your own transport I believe the resort is always willing to help out and arrange a pick up if you ask. At Meili Beach Resort you are sure to breathe fresh air, unlike places next to roads all over Cebu island or in the whole Philippines.||There is a bus stop in Alcoy where you can catch a Ceres bus (or other bus) to/from Cebu city (130 pesos, 3-5 hours drive depending on traffic).||||Apartments are situated in a nice garden, with trees and flowers. It's kept looking amazingly. There are always people (employees) working to improve the place and keep it tidy.||||THE BEACH||Meili has a small private beach, there is sand, however inside the sea there are soft plants and it's stony. Some guests swim, others don’t and they use swimming pool instead. There are small black rocky cliffs around which makes the small beach look a bit wild and dramatic. It is also nice just to sit on the beach or collect the hundreds of sea shells the sea brings every day. For those who love big sandy beaches there's a Tingko beach nearby, one of the famous beaches of Cebu, just minutes ride by a tricycle or motorbike.||||FOOD||Food is good and at same price as at other resorts, not more. All the mid-range resorts have very similar prices, they are comparable to European prices, despite being in a poor country. You can surely eat cheaper food on the street, but I am not sure if I would. At Meili, its all homemade food, including Mrs Elisabeth’s (the owner) homemade brown bread and pizza dough. Really good.||||STAFF||Meili is one of the rarer resorts I visited in Cebu and Bohol islands that instructs their staff how to treat a customer. All other places I stayed at, staff were lost, afraid, or indifferent. Jessica, the receptionist and manager, is fantastic. Smart, polite, professional. The owners are very friendly, personal, they give all their love to the place. I haven't experienced this in any other place. ||There are employees always around, doing maintenance, taking care of the garden, the swimming pool etc.||||ADDITIONAL INFO||Meili Beach Resort looks better in reality than in photos uploaded by the resort itself.||||It takes 1-1,5 hours to get to the Kawasan falls on a motorbike through the mountains. I stayed there 11 days in November/December 2015||||The Meili-Beach-Resort:||Meili-Beach-Resort in ALCOY is an excellent Resort for anyone who wishes to relax in peace and quiet, for someone who would like a calm and peaceful atmosphere for their holiday, this is the place they have to go when you are in ALCOY. This Resort Swiss/Philipina owned and operated and is the first-choice-Resort in my point of view in ALCOY, its build and cleaned with quality from Swiss! Very calm and a nice view. I love ALCOY, and I love Meili Beach Resort. This place is perfect for those who seek a relaxed time away from the busy Cebu City! The Resort is in an idylic little haven. Maybe the last in ALCOY.||||||Location of the Resort:||Far away from crowdy street Nationale. First line to the beach. The Resort is really, really quiet and idylic. I am not very fond of partying so I enjoyed the peace and quite very much. Made feel like I was a thousands miles away from it all.||||||Food:||The food more then great! Elisabeth is a very excellent cook! Delicious! I have had dinner every night there! Price is very worth it from the service you get. ||||||Pool: ||A really nicely shaped and big and clear swimming pool. The Pool is very big and great for swimming, is great for young and old with lounge chairs and towels aplenty.||||||Garden:||Garden is very clean and nice and well kept. The many trees and palms are also well kept and at night, the garden is light up nicely.||||||Staffs and Management:||The staff are very helpful and friendly, the management by Helmut and Elisabeth of the Resort is excellent and make your stay extremely pleasant. The staff here are approachable and very friendly and very accommodating. All of their staff are well-mannered, very accommodating, and extremely nice.||||||Beach:||Meili is a beach front Resort, the beach is very clean and a little heaven for itself! „Water“ is clear and warm. Use Water-Slipper-Shoes please!||||||Cottages:||The doubled built villas are unique and absolutely Western Standard in quality and cleaness. The bed is very comfortable. Nice spacious room with a very comfortable bathroom. My beachfront villa was roomy, clean and quiet. Villa that is cleaned daily.||||||Activities:||Though there is not much activities organized by the Resort for fun during my stay, but what I needed that time was just accommodation and privacy and a perfect location. A motorbike is a must-have! Ask Herrmann Meili for a contact to rental services. The way from Nationale road to the Resort is far and stoney and dark after 6 pm!||||||WiFi:||Availible and works!||||||Conclusion:||I will return to Herrmann Meili definitly, the resort is just wonderful. It is a „must stay in“! I stayed for 11 nights at Meili Beach Resort, payed by myself, and it was a hit. I missed NOTHING! I stayed there at Meili Beach Resort 2 Days in November 2017||||I was often in ALCOY in Meili Beach Rosort in the Past, the best One in ALCOY, the Management has changed in 2017 and i want to test out, if the Service, Management and Accomodation is still perfect like in years before...||||The MEILI BEACH Resort in ALCOY:||MEILI BEACH Resort in ALCOY is an excellent Resort for anyone who wishes to stay close to the sea and Tingko Beach in a peace and quiet area, for someone who would like a very good Accomodation and relaxing aera inside the Resort, this is the Resort they have to go when you are in ALCOY for a couple of days for relaxing. This Resort is perfect for those who seek a very good quality Hotel to a budget price.||||||Location of the Resort:||Close to Tingko Beach (No walking distance). Very quite and very comfortable inside the Resort.||||||Food:||The breakfast will served delicious, very delicious. Price for dinner is very valuable from the service you get. The quality is nearly perfect as before.||||||Pool: ||A really nicely shaped and and clear swimming pool. A lot of lounge chairs are there too.
