Out of the blue, I decided to go without my significant other to have my thoughts sorted out and reflect on things that had transpired.||||I set out on a lone adventure to a place I have never been and searched for an island that I can be all alone. To my luck, I found one and booked it immediately. I specifically requested for round trip airport transfers and the the booking agent confirmed that it is included in the package.||||As I arrived at Cebu Airport, I looked for the airport transfer to take me to the hotel. However after 20minutes of looking I finally called the resort and asked for my pick up but they told me that they were unaware of this request. I told them that I specifically asked for airport transfers from and to the airport but they replied that the only transfers included in their package was the boat transfers to and from the island. I was upset to hear this but I kept my chin up and just got a taxi to take me to the resort. I also requested the driver to pick me up the following day since it seems that the place has no taxis around the area.||||As I waited for my boat transfer to the island, I took some pictures of the affiliated resort. It seems they had good facilities and I was hoping for the same in the island.||||In the boat transfer, I realized at that moment that I was the only guest and I also confirmed it with the guide.||||The island was definitely a great escape and quiet enough for me to do my reflection.||||I had a great view of the beach from the porch. Sea winds are cool but unfortunately not blowing in the direction that I needed it to and I had to open my door so that the wind could flow through. ||||And since the island was small, there was no electricity. They are dependent on 2 types of generators. The first generator was used during the day to simply function the basic electrical needs and this would mean "no air condition". The other generator is used at night so that rooms can use the air conditioner.||||The food was normal but it was definitely pricey. The grilled squid it cost me Php300++ and it was just plain simple, nothing special. And with the type of rooms they offered, I think they charged too much especially since people cannot use the air conditioner at all times.||||I would be going back there again but it would be for swimming since I wasn't able to visit the sanctuary and go walking by the shore during low tide.||||For thought reflection is a good place but it was definitely pricey for the limited services they offered and they need to revised their definition of "RT Airport Transfers". They should have stated "RT Boat Transfers" instead.||||I hope in my next visit they...
Read moreThe island|Hilutungan is a beautiful small island east of Cebu in the Philippines. The people in the village are warm and friendly. There's a school and a church in the village - and a lot of children. Every household seems to have at least two roosters; they are kept for fighting. The roosters are not aware that they should crow only to wake people up...| |The resort |The resort called Island and sun is small and lovely. We had the time of our life in this resort! The rising tide came under the building we lived in; luckily the house is built on piles. The rooms are pretty and spacy. The personnel is just wonderful - we were taken fishing, got all we needed before even asking, had the most delicious meals, even a romantic dinner on the beach. From our room we could see, hear and smell the sea - can't find words to describe it! Thank you Edwin & crew!| |The nature|The islands are green and clean. The sky is blue and the water very clear. The sand is white, and there are shells on the beach. The tide really affects the look of the island and the surrounding sea. Something's always blooming. The sun is shining and the gentle wind makes the climate perfect.| |The snorkling|The clear water and gentle wind makes the place perfect for snorkling. You can see sea-urchins and star fish everywhere. The colourful fish swim and hide aroud the corals. And there's something that looks like a cross of a snake and a dinosaur: a long, greenish thing crawling near the sea bottom. Beautiful views and easy snorkling!| |The holiday|We usually gather a + - list whenever we travel. This holiday had nothing on the minus side. We got lots of sun in beautiful surroundings, excellent service, good rest, peace and quiet, and delicous food. And we saw animals we've never seen before, met people we'll never forget and had the amazing views all around us...
Read moreThe place is very relaxing, windy place. 150 pesos + 5 pesos environmental fee for the entrance. There are lots of rooms that are not used, it would be really good if they open those for guests. Maybe bec it was damaged by the typhoon. No food nor beverage available in the resort, no water to wash yourself after swimming. But u can set up a tent and do grilling. As for the island, there are lots of garbage everywhere, it seems that they are neglected by the Cordova LGU. However, there is no garbage in the resort.l, which is good. The fare for the boat is 700 pesos (one way). Its best if you are a huge group so u can share the fare. The waves were kinda huge when I went there. Overall experience is 7/10. They just have to improve their amenities. The beach is...
