Mariden Resort & Homestay Siargao — Hotel in Del Carmen

We booked at Mariden Resort as a desperate attempt to seek immediate shelter when Cebu Pacific cancelled our flights due to the weather. They are near to the airport although you need to ride a trike or motorcycle to get here. It's cheap yet very worth it. The rooms are spacious, aircon is cold, hot water for shower is available, and they also have food. Wifi is relatively fast. After talking with the owner, we realized that MaRiden is a combination of the couple's names: Marites and Riden. Riden was kind enough to pick us up from the airport and also drop us off in such short notice. Mariden is actually a pandemic project by the couple, and sits in the middle of a rice field. When their neighbors lost their jobs during COVID, Marites and Riden decided to convert it into a resort to give some work for them. I really appreciate stories like these. It's a really super warm family. They even gave a sideline for their night security guard/lifeguard, who Marites suggested we hire as our city driver and tour guide.

The only downside here is the mosquitoes. For those who are more sensitive, I suggest you ask Marites to do something about thr mosquitoes if they get inside the room. Otherwise, very good stay. I...

Mariden is a beautiful and affordable resort, perfect if you are on a budget, but don't get me wrong the service and people here are top! Very friendly! The location is a matter of preference, it is a bit remote which is great, however a bit far if you don't have transport, if you rent a motorcycle and want to visit around, this is perfect!
