We stayed 10 nights in dryft camp. (Yes long enough and even the crew was surprised 😁). Below are our recommendations and insights. Overall perfect location to stay. highly recommended!! * Crystal clear flat water and perfect white beach * Friendly crew and excellent service. Especially the camp chief Cristian is a super guy, very intelligent, kind and caring. * Excellent food. The best tuna we had ever had. All the dinner fish selections were at high quality taste. Kudos to the chef and the team in the kitchen * Great massage. We had massage everyday and both ladies are really good for those who like especially hard massage. The atmosphere where you had the massage is also so calming so definitely try that service. * Colorful reefs: We had time to discover more than the briefing given in the beginning. So if you go there, visit 2 massive reefs apart from ship wreck. 1st one, swim around 200 m from the beach in front of the camp, pass the turquoise water and 10-20 m sea weeds and there will be magical reef which is around 200 meters to left until the next beach. There are a lot of colorful corals and fishes. Stunning view. 2nd one is on the other side of the island. Take the footpath to walk the other side and swim from there to 400m and the reef will start. The shapes and colors of the reef is very different than the other side of the island. You can spend 2 hours in water just for snorkeling. Choose a calm day to go to the reefs to see more fishes. We had island tour A & C and the reefs on those tours are not any better than the reefs around Dryft camp. * Exercise: we run on the beach everyday and sunrise and sunset was the best time. The timing changed depending on the tide because you might need to wait for low tide to have flatter surface. * Sunsets: Magnificent sunset but don’t leave when the sun is behind the mountains, the show starts there. The real sunset happens after 10-15 minutes. * Privacy: it’s great for couples (we saw 2 proposals) and also for group friend holidays but be mindful that it is a very silent island so night time fun is not appropriate or option here. Things to consider * There is no a/c in the rooms, only fans so prepared for the heat inside the rooms. * The toilets are generally clean but the flushing system is very basic and weak, the same as boats so it might take 2-3 flashes to get rid off your residuals :) * If you need to wee in the night, you need to walk to the toilets (we did it every night) * The showers are not the best but ok, and clean. * The best room with toilet and shower is too close to the restaurant, showers and toilets. It’s too noisy to have a good sleep as people in the camp use the toilet all night. We only stayed 1 night in that room, 9 nights in the chalet. * The rooms are very basic, with a bed, mosquito nets, fan and a mirror. * There are not many insects as we expected but bring your mosquito defender sprays * You wake up with the beautiful bird noises in the morning around 5 a.m., so be prepared * People generally stay 2 days but we recommend longer if you want a relaxing vacation. * No internet, no cellular, no wifi: You need to walk to the other side of the island to access phone line and internet but it is not reliable too so set the baseline as no internet * No luxury: Above points tell it all. Set your expectation accordingly. No need for proper clothes for dinner, no make up, no shoes. Negatives Commute: not easy to commute the island. You need to take a taxi to the village where you take a boat ~50 min from El Nido, and the boat is ~20 min. The road from el nido to the harbor where you take boat is a nightmarez Safety in the car: The shuttle car needed to carry things to or from island. So we travelled with empty LPG bottles and that was scary and unacceptable. In another time, the driver needed to deroute to find for ice and stopped 5 times until he finds ice cubes. We couldn’t complain as we then need that ice cubes for our drinks… However those logistics problems for supply can be better managed.

Paradise Found: An Unforgettable Stay at DRYFT in Palawan Our recent stay at DRYFT on a secluded island in Palawan was nothing short of magical. This eco-friendly haven, crafted entirely from wood and bamboo, offered a truly unique and unforgettable experience. From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the stunning architecture and the serene island atmosphere. Our bungalow, meticulously constructed with bee wax, provided a cozy and authentic escape. The lack of internet, while initially daunting, quickly became a welcome aspect, encouraging us to fully immerse ourselves in the beauty of our surroundings. The service at DRYFT was exceptional. Every staff member, particularly the friendly and accommodating Rahim, went above and beyond to ensure our comfort and enjoyment. Faith, the manager, was incredibly helpful, always available to assist with any requests. The island itself is a paradise. Its small size allowed us to explore every corner barefoot, while the lush natural environment provided endless opportunities for relaxation and exploration. We particularly enjoyed the yoga classes and the rejuvenating Filipino massages. The highlight, however, was undoubtedly the food. Every meal was a culinary adventure, featuring fresh, healthy, and creatively prepared dishes. We had initially planned to stay for two nights but were so enchanted by the island and the hospitality that we extended our stay to five days. It was an experience we will cherish forever. We will be back! Alejandro & Jakub Highly Recommended: DRYFT is a perfect choice for travelers seeking a true escape from the everyday. The unique architecture, stunning natural beauty, exceptional service, and delicious food make it an unforgettable destination. We highly recommend this idyllic retreat to anyone looking to reconnect with nature and themselves.

Dryft is not just a destination, it’s an experience. The atmosphere at Dryft, along with the amazing people who work there who are mostly locals that make the island even more authentic, truly makes it special. You can see the creativity and attention to detail in every corner, from the beautifully crafted huts where you can enjoy a stunning sea view, to their restaurant with its impressive architecture, and the serene “shala” tucked in the jungle overlooking the ocean. Every space tells a story filled with thought and passion. The materials used in building the huts reflect sustainable creativity, while the chefs’ talent shines through the dishes they prepare each day. Their ever changing menu offers a variety of options including vegetarian and vegan choices, flavorful chicken, pork, beef, and the freshest Palawan seafood. Every meal is a burst of flavors that feels like fireworks on your taste buds. I also have to highlight how well they maintain the entire camp. Even the shared bathrooms are spotless, which makes the whole experience more comfortable and relaxing. Everything is kept clean and well organized, allowing you to fully enjoy the serenity, freshness, and peaceful escape from the chaos of city life. The yoga sessions and other wellness activities complete the experience, helping you reconnect with nature and rediscover yourself. They also offer fun activities like paddle boarding, which you can rent at an affordable price. It is perfect to do in the morning as you catch the sunrise or in the afternoon as you watch the horizon glow at sunset. Dryft is truly a hidden paradise, a place that rejuvenates the soul and brings a deep sense of healing. I highly recommend Dryft Camp to anyone who wants to enjoy solitude, connect with nature, and experience a complete reset before returning to the busy world once again.

My partner and I stayed at Dryft Darocotan Resort over Christmas 2024, and unfortunately, our experience was very negative. The main issue? Food poisoning—likely due to a salmonella contamination in the kitchen—which affected us and over 15 other guests. The handling of the incident and whole communication by the resort was catastrophic. When we informed the staff, they downplayed the situation, insisting it was a "common virus", despite nearly half the resort vomiting all night which can have only resulted from an intoxication during dinner. Instead of offering medical assistance, the staff merely provided us with ginger tea. Worse still, when some of us—too sick to even walk properly—asked for a late checkout to recover, we were denied and forced to leave the rooms. Food poisoning, especially suspected salmonella, is a serious health risk. For a resort charging $200 per night, such negligence is unacceptable. And based on other reviews, this wasn’t the first time.

We were contacted by Dryft staff a few days after the event. First, it seemed as if they were concerned about our health, but then it turned out that their main motive was for us to take down an earlier negative review that we wrote. They even offered to pay us if we take down the review. In case you’re wondering why they have so many positive reviews, here’s your answer. What a shame! They also promised to share lab results from a test they claimed to conduct to find the source of contamination. But guess what? They never followed up. When we reached out weeks later, they ignored us completely.

Aside from the poisoning and poor communication, there were other issues in the resort that we disliked. The beach is beautiful but infested with sandflies that leave painful bites. In total, there are 6 beach beds for the whole beach, so you have to choose between laying on the sand and getting bitten or watching the beach from your hut. Despite the high prices, the resort is very basic and offers only limited comfort. Some of the huts/tents are cramped together and are not directly facing the beach as suggested in some of the resort pictures. Wifi is not provided for the guests even though there are some mysterious connections in the resort (maybe only for the staff?). Popular dishes run out during lunch and dinner and sometime there is no equivalent replacement, especially for vegetarian dishes. Prices for food are not cheap and with 1500-2000 PHP per day more expensive than in most places in the Philippines. The payment system is inconvenient: Card payments are not possible, and all expenses must be settled in cash at the end of the stay.

Overall, for the price they charge, we cannot recommend Dryft Darocotan Resort to you. If you want an authentic, enjoyable experience in the Philippines—without food poisoning, deception, and overpriced mediocracy— you may be better off in...
