PPS / Edit: We are responding to the owner’s initial response to this review. FYI, there were only 4 of us that stayed there. Do not insist 6 people stayed there, because on the very first day, I clarified that THESE people are LOCALS in IAO. Do you need their addresses? We have proof that they did NOT stay there. We respect the house rules of BNB owners, so why can’t the owners respect their guests?
Original review: I entrusted my nephew to handle the booking for this villa, as he was celebrating his 25th birthday with us, his family. (I’m his aunt, for context.)
We booked Bombora Villa No. 1 for 6 days and 5 nights. While we understand that some roads in Santa Fe are still underdeveloped, the real disappointment was the lack of hospitality from the host. From the very beginning, we didn’t feel welcome at all. In fact, the overall vibe was uncomfortably cold and uninviting.
On our first day, local friends of mine (who live in Siargao) were kind enough to drive us to the property, as it's not easily accessible by regular transport. Thankfully, one of them had a car to get us there safely.
Upon arrival, a staff member named Dave, who introduced himself as the "villa manager," came by under the pretense of checking if we needed anything, but he actually just said he needed to measure something in the bathroom. One of us followed him, and it was clear he wasn't there to assist but likely to report back to the owner about our group.
Later that day, my nephew received a text from the owner accusing us of exceeding the number of declared guests, even though no conversation had been had. They were quick to assume and confront without any proper engagement. If you're running a BnB or any form of hospitality business, learning the basics of respect and customer service is essential. The owner's attitude came across as arrogant and unprofessional.
As the aunt, I’ll take responsibility for not paying closer attention to the number of 1-star reviews this property already had. Unlike most hosts I’ve encountered elsewhere, who are warm and accommodating, we received no check-ins or follow-up, just judgment.
Additional concerns:
Cleanliness: The place is infested with bugs. The listing’s mention of "friendly creatures" feels like an excuse to avoid proper cleaning and upkeep.
Kitchen: The refrigerator barely works. It took two full days just to freeze ice.
Water: The water smelled awful, rusty and like sewage. I’ve stayed in multiple locations across Siargao (including GL and Malinao), and I’ve never encountered water this foul.
This wasn’t my first time in Siargao, and I’m not a clueless tourist. I have local friends here, and I know what decent accommodation and hospitality should look like.
For future reference, if you’re running a business, especially in hospitality, know that respect and warmth go a long way. Owning a villa doesn’t give you the right to look down on guests.
Service Rating: 2 stars — Only because Dave, the local staff member, was kind and respectful.
PS: As per my aunt who said to post it again because it...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of staying at a tropical villa nestled in the heart of the jungle and it was truly an unforgettable experience! The villa is surrounded by lush greenery, creating a serene and peaceful environment that is perfect for those seeking a quiet and relaxing getaway.
One of the highlights of this villa is its stunning outdoor bathtub. Set amidst a beautifully landscaped garden, the bathtub provides the perfect spot to unwind and soak in the natural beauty of the jungle. The water is heated to the perfect temperature, and there is nothing quite like soaking in warm water while being surrounded by the sounds of the jungle.
The villa itself is impeccably designed, with a perfect blend of modern amenities and traditional decor. The living areas are spacious and open, with large windows that provide stunning views of the surrounding jungle.
One of the things that really sets this villa apart from other accommodations is its location. Tucked away in the jungle, it provides a true escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The peacefulness and tranquility of the surrounding area is truly unmatched, and it is the perfect place to relax and recharge. Be aware though the dirt road to get there is quite the adventure! Really need to be comfortable riding a motorbike...
The staff at the villa are also amazing. They are warm, welcoming, and always available to assist with any needs or questions. Their attention to detail is impeccable, and they truly go above and beyond to ensure that guests have a wonderful stay.
Overall, I cannot recommend this tropical villa enough. It is the perfect retreat for anyone looking to escape from the stresses of everyday life and reconnect...
Read moreBombora Siargao was the perfect place to end our Siargao trip on a high note. Tucked away in the lush jungle, yet just a short walk from what I truly believe is the best beach on the island, this eco-friendly hideaway strikes the ideal balance between comfort, privacy, and connection with nature.
From the moment you arrive, you can feel the thought and care that’s gone into the space. The furniture is not only stylish—with a relaxed, Bohemian vibe—but also incredibly comfortable, making it easy to unwind after a day of exploring. The entire villa feels like your own private sanctuary. It’s surrounded by greenery, with the soothing sounds of the jungle as your background soundtrack, giving you the sense of being completely removed from the busier parts of the island.
The private kitchen is perfectly set up for mornings where you want to linger over coffee, or evenings when you’d rather prepare a simple meal and dine in. The highlight for me was the outdoor bath and shower area—beautifully designed and open to the sky, allowing you to soak or rinse off while surrounded by nature.
Bombora has clearly been designed with both style and function in mind. Every corner is thoughtfully curated, and the villa is equipped with everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay, from cooking essentials to cozy linens. It’s the kind of place that makes it tempting to extend your stay—or start planning your return before you’ve even left.
If you’re looking for a place that offers the comforts of home, the beauty of the jungle, and easy access to the island’s most stunning beach, Bombora...
