The first thing we like aside from their quick response to our inquiry is they keep in touch. They asked us the day before about our arrival, did we already have arrangements regarding transportation etc. The familiar way they call my friend 'Adeng' (younger sister) made us feel comfortable already and we have not meet them yet. At Adams jump off point, Kuya Roger is waiting for us already.||||When we got there, Ate Edlyn greeted us warmly. She greet us as if we are the only guests but we can see there are two groups who probably received the same warm reception. When Ate Ilyn came, she was equally warm. ||||Meals are great! Unexpectedly different from 3 days of bagnet, longganisa and eggplant (not complaining, just surprisingly different). We commend Ilyn's husband for being a thoughtful cook. ||||Dinner: Chicken dish called Sampe, stir fried kangkong, shrimp dish and red rice||||Breakfast: Homemade longganisa, fried egg, and ham and egg fried rice (for my friend, they made a patty) plus coffee!!!||||Lunch: Steamed tilapia, and two dishes of vegies, bamboo shoots and fern tips.||||Tour guide/ tricycle driver is already arranged. It seems most of our requests are granted. Number one, we want the Beruna cottage, no meat for a guest, hot water for a bath, heating up of food we brought, extra tent, borrowing of glasses to take to our cottage, charging of cellphones every now and then, they even helped my friends to get my birthday cake!||||I had a great time browsing the library in our cottage, taking pictures of the lotus in the morning, the koi and the surrounding. It was simple and quiet place. Just...
Read moreManang Ilyn has always been very welcoming to her guests. The place is relaxing because it is very close to nature and the area is surrounded by greens. I love the ponds and the lotuses where tilapias are grown organically. The food they serve is very good because everything is organic such as "pako", garlic tilapia, puso ng saging, crayfishes, native talong, etc., and red rice. Prices are affordable for both food and lodging. You could just stay at the place if you want to reconnect with nature or go out and do exciting activities such as going to falls (Anuplig or Kanayupan, the nearest falls), taking a bath to a lot of rivers, or sunrise viewing at the...
Read moreIf you're keen on experiencing and exploring the mountains of Ilocos Norte, go to Adams town and stay at Ilyn's Homey Place. This would be the perfect base for day-trekking to various waterfalls and soon-to-be available river kayaking and rafting adventures. The hut we stayed in (one of four and more to be built) was very clean and comfortable, with ensuite bathroom and hot water shower. Food was excellent, prepared by a Taiwanese chef who used native organic ingredients. A few minutes walk from the resort is a winery making good spirits from local berries and grains. Altogether a...
