Baler is one of the most beautiful places in the Philippines. With long sandy beaches, lush jungle covered mountains, waterfalls and some of the best and most accessible surfing in the country, Baler is surprisingly undiscovered. Sabang beach is the most popular beach in the area and can be crowded on the weekends with the few hotels full and very expensive. A much better alternative lies on the other beaches in the area which are both prettier, less crowded and more unique.||||L’sirene is in an idyllic location on a long, lonely stretch of beach with no other hotels or even any other buildings nearly as far as you can see. It is postcard beautiful and features great breaks for surfing and shady trees and breezy afternoons on the berm of the beach. There is also a nice pool for relaxation after surfing or just cooling off for non surfers.||||The hotel is well maintained. The food is good and the staff there is friendly, helpful and super accommodating. For example, I had to cancel my last reservations because I couldn’t get there due to the Covid lock down. And hotel management cheerfully canceled the reservation and gave me a full refund. They have always been very helpful on all my visits; giving me rides into town, arranging transport such as the express bus back to Manila. I have stayed in a lot of hotels on my numerous trips to Baler and L’Sirene is by far the nicest and the best value. It’s location and staff make it a must stay if you visit Baler. I highly...
Read moreIt was our first time travelling to Baler. We are a family of three, our toddler is 3 years old. We booked 13 out of the 15 rooms in L'Sirene and happy to say we all enjoyed our stay. The rooms are big in size and the two queen beds are worth the money. Sleep quality is excellent, mattress, sheets, pillows are all comfortable and smell very clean. Take note that the bathroom is two separate areas. To the left is the toilet and to the right is the bath area. |Amenities are extremely limited. Free standard soap while shampoo, conditioner and body wash is inside the dispenser in the bath area. Also, there is no refrigerator in the rooms. We had to bring our own cooler and buy ice|quite a long drive away. Take note of this if you are travelling with babies.|The pool area is very nice, and the restaurant is 4 out of 5. Not bad quality food. We had breakfast there each day and spaghetti and fries on another night. Just take note that the restaurant does not open til about 7 or 730 as the cook arrives late.|It is also a short walk to the beach, and on the way there you will see another wading pool fronting the beach.||* Note of caution. Please do not let your kids run along the wet tile in front of your rooms. One of our friends' kids was walking and slipped and hit his head really hard on the tile. Thank God nothing serious.|* This is also about 15 mins drive from Costa Pacifica area. And to get into the L'Sirene property you must drive for about eight minutes along...
Read moreRooms: 2 QUEEN beds, very comfortable mattress (not common among beach resorts), very clean, creative decor, each room has a shower room and a CR. Rooms come with blankets and towels, soap, shampoo, and conditioner.
Pool: long and simple kid friendly, my 3 yr old could stand in the middle, a great lounge pool.
Food: great selection on the menu, great cooks, good sized servings, good service my wait staff
Beach: my personal favorite so far in the Philippines. (late March) great consistent waves, anywhere from 1 foot to 3 foot. Constantly has a great breeze, awesome views with mountains on the north and south, picturesque to the max, great sand for sand castles, not a Coral beach - meaning sand all the way into the water not coral or rocks.
Surfing is a great way to enjoy.
Bring a boogie or body board for endless rides from 20 feet out into the water (maybe 3 feet deep) all the way back to the shore.
Some lounge chairs on the beach but bring some and a beach umbrella of you don't like sitting in the sand.
Bon fire pits on the beach for a s'mores.
Evenings on the beach bring a flashlight and a bucket and go crab hunting. They all come out at night and you and your youngsters can chase, catch,...
