I DO NOT recommend Potipot Gateway Resort. Our stay from June 14th was a series of disappointments and safety concerns that made for an unpleasant experience.||||Upon arrival between 4-5 PM, we were assigned an old, two-story villa near the basketball court. The villa was in terrible condition: blinds were broken, ceilings needed repairs, the doors didn't fit their frames properly and were hard to close, and the wooden floors were creaky and felt unstable, especially on the second floor near the stairs. It was unsettling, particularly with infants and kids in our group.||||The kitchen area amenities on the second floor are all dirty and worn out. There is a microwave, toaster, fridge and lots of cabinets but they are all worn out and so dirty. We did not end up using it.||||The villa was infested with mosquitoes, and there were hardly any lights at night outside, making it extremely dingy. Worse, there were no mosquito nets provided, which is a big issue considering the health risks, especially for young children. The lack of strong locks in the room added to our anxiety, as we had important work equipment with us.||||The bedding, sheets, and towels were dusty, suggesting that the villa had not been occupied or properly cleaned in a long time. This added to the discomfort and overall feeling of neglect.||||The resort's guest parking lacks basic security measures; there is no CCTV or security guard, so you have to park at your own risk. When we were about to leave on June 16th, we discovered that our car wouldn’t unlock or start. A man staying in the parking area informed us that our car alarm had been blinking all night, which drained the battery. Given that we had recently replaced the battery, it seemed improbable for it to die without warning.||||The same man offered to jumpstart our car, but even after the jumpstart, the alarm continued to sound. This indicated that someone had tried to tamper with our car overnight, either to steal something or intentionally drain the battery. 😡||||This entire situation was extremely distressing and unsafe, especially since we had infants and kids with us on a long drive. The lack of car facilities in the area added to our anxiety about safety.||||Upon returning home in the evening, I fell ill with severe muscle and joint aches, fever, headache, dizziness, and diarrhea, the next morning. This also happened to 4 people in our group. We all had to seek medical attention and am still undergoing treatment for these symptoms. 🤒||||Overall, our experience at Potipot Gateway Resort was highly disappointing and unsafe. We will never return and strongly advise others to avoid...
Read moreMy wife and I stayed here only for 2 nights for the weekend. Here is our experience:
Location - It's not that far away from Manila but you have to drive through a bunch of towns with motorcycle/sidecars that are slow and won't move out of the way. At least a 6-8 hour drive. Better to take a plane to Iba town and transport from there or hire a taxi or bus. Property - There are multiple buildings by the street and no signs to say where check in is. It is across the river towards the ocean. The grounds are kept quite clean and tidy, and there are many hanging vines which makes it feel like you're in a jungle (in a good way). Large dining area, both covered and open. There are pool/billiards tables, table tennis and a swimming pool, all kept tidy. Lounge chairs are available on the beach but beware the locals wanting to sell you things or kids begging for money. Also, smoking is allowed anywhere except the rooms, but the tables closest to the beach usually have a breeze to keep the smoke at bay. Staff - Everyone here is extremely polite and friendly, greeting us each morning with a 'Sir' and 'Ma'am' and helping us with our bags. The only exception to good service here was upon check-in they gave us the wrong room but we were too tired to complain and ask to change it. Room - Ordered a garden view queen room, got room with two full beds with a shared bathroom (full of mosquitoes) and a view of the kitchen of the neighboring hotel which starts work at 4:30 and we could hear everything as if we were inside with the cooks. The air-con was stuck on 1 setting because the knob was broke, so we were either very warm without it on or freezing cold. The beds however were very comfortable, felt like memory foam mattresses. Restaurant - Large restaurant/dining area. The Adobo Chicken was very good, though it seems they cut up a whole chicken and cooked it. We found every bone and joint and had to pick them out as we ate. The Fish n Chips tasted like and had the texture of chicken nuggets (fries were good). All the pastas we ate were very delicious. The breakfast was also very good with options for western food or Philippine food. Score - I would have given this place a higher score except with the price set on the higher side we expect more; not mixups on the rooms, broken air-con and sub-par food. The staff here were fantastic and seem to do their best but management has obviously let the...
Read moreThe only good experience that we had in this resort was that they did an extra mile in providing us a complimentary ride from Cisco Bus Terminal to their resort when we accidentally rode Five Star Cisco bound to Sta. Cruz. Later did we find out that only Victory Liner bound to Sta. Cruz passes by their resort, Five Star Cisco has a longer and different route. But other done that, their resort is just ok. |HOTEL (mainland) Check in experience was bad. The staff who assisted us in our room didn't offer to bring our baggage. He just keeps on texting while assisting us to our room which by the way is in the 3rd floor. 1st room (Deluxe room) given to us was not clean and had poor airconditioning. Toilet was a mess. We just asked them to be transferred to another room. Php3,500 per night is pricey knowing that you don't have much to do in the resort aside from going to the island. Frequent brownouts. No cable services (Sky Direct is just like ABSCBN TV plus). No pool. No other amenities like billiards, gameboards, etc. The nearby resort offers these services.|- Food offered in their restaurant are very pricey (350php above price range) that’s why we ate at the nearby resort (Potipot Getaway) who offers more food choices but not that expensive Breakfast service was very bad. Waited for an hour before our orders were served. Free breakfast offered are just silog meals. You need to add Php100 for an American Breakfast which should not be the case since not all silog meals are available. Also, instead of fried rice, they only served plain rice. PROs: Very near Potipot island (10-15mins by boat) Offers free coffee anytime and has water dispenser at the restaurant Very quiet surroundings Comfy bed||THE ISLAND|- Php2500 rate for a Modern Treehouse is also very pricey since you only have a bed and an electric fan inside the room.|- You only have one socket in the modern tree house and it is used for the electric fan. So better bring an extension cord so you can charge your gadgets at night|- The island restaurant has limited menu. Actually, a lot was unavailable when we ate there.||PROs:|- all restrooms are well-maintained and always clean. We really had no issues even if the island only offers shared restrooms.|- the island is very relaxing and quiet during the weekdays. much deserved break away...
