GV Hotel Masbate — Hotel in Masbate

I should have known better. The hotel looked decrepit. Rates were cheap. But as a blogger, I wanted to stay so I can authoritatively review the hotel based on experience, and not on anybody else's impression. ||||I had to be transferred from the first room assigned to me. It smelled of human feces. When I tried to see why (I thought it came from outside), I noticed the huge metal tubes that formed part of the plumbing. It is clearly the source of the foul smell, and the room boy validated my observation. ||||He volunteered to transfer me to another room. Fine.||||I wanted to have coffee or snacks. It turned out the hotel did not have even a small coffee shop. I had to go to the store at the corner to buy water, bread etc to tide me over when I get hungry. ||||Cheap rate. If you are on a very tight budget, this hotel will do. Just make sure your room doesn't have...

Pros:||||-Centrally located in the city center||-Can easily get a tricycle||-Near cathedral, museum and souvenir shop||||Cons:||||-Found a big cockroach in the bathroom (really not a good sign!)||-Beds feel cheap, and room felt dirty||-Concierge not helpful/knowledgeable on places to go to in Masbate||-Intermittent wifi (no wifi at the lobby)||-Cramp bathroom||-TV not working, so cannot watch anything||-No available outlet in the room (i.e. have to remove outlet dedicated for TV, so can use for charging electronic devices)||-Told staff that would need a room that have separate beds, but in the end still gave a room with one bed||-Shower is a joke||-Key card not functioning the day...

Well, it's one of the cheap hotels in Masbate, and a little bit better than the others. Rooms are very basic, dont expect a flat tv or a fancy restaurant and a speedy internet. You wont get it here. |Rooms For me its a little bit noisy, but hey, if you're just going to spend a night, and on a tight budget, this will do. But if you'd like to enjoy Masbate and going to stay 2-3 days, you can go and stay somewhere else. Rooms have no interesting view. They do give free bottled water, and soap.
