H Mansion Hotel & Resort — Hotel in Mindanao

Disappointing - would not recommend given the price.

H Mansion in Tandag markets itself as an upper-class, premium hotel and the price reflects that - we paid roughly 3,600 peso ($100 AUD) per night for a double room. Unfortunately, the experience falls far short of what you’d expect from even the most basic of hotels.

While the rooms are generally clean, they feel unfinished and cheaply built. Basic amenities that are standard in most hotels (even budget hotels!) are either missing or require extra charges. There was no mini-fridge, only two towels provided (no hand towels, no proper bath mat), and absolutely nowhere to hang a towel in the bathroom. 2 of the 3 rooms we booked didn’t even have a toilet seat?! Hot water wasn’t available until we discovered 2 days in to our stay that we had to manually turn on a hot water unit under the bathroom sink!!! No one informed us of this, so we assumed there was no warm water available.

The shower had poor drainage, leading to water damage of the bathroom door. One day it even flooded. Staff were called and the issue was sorted however the bathroom floor was left dirty with footprints. The lack of attention to detail and cleanliness was disappointing.

The air conditioning wasn’t turned on in the common areas. No complimentary water was provided, and small bottles were sold for 50 pesos each which is excessive considering the price of the rooms.

We booked several rooms as we are a large family. In one room we paid for an extra bed which did not include a blanket. When we requested one, we were later charged an additional 300 pesos at check-out for it - on top of the 500 pesos already paid for the bed itself!!!! This extra cost was never communicated to us beforehand, and the staff refused to waive the charge despite our concerns.

There was also no daily room servicing. When we requested this on the 2nd day, we were informed they only do it upon request and between certain times (10-3 or something like that) AND that was have to leave our key behind to have it done? In all my hotel stays, even at lower-budget accommodations, daily servicing is a BASIC standard.

We had to ask for fresh towels ourselves, which is once again unacceptable for the price point.

Overall, the service was extremely poor and well below expectations. H Mansion will need to make significant improvements in both hospitality and facility standards if they want to live up to the luxury image they’re projecting. Until then, it’s simply not...
