I recently visited Lemlunay Resort, although I did not stay in any of their rooms, so I can't comment on the accommodations. The resort is about a 45-60 minute drive south of General Santos City.
On our first visit, we stopped at the restaurant. It's a little resort tucked away off the beaten path, offering a calm, stereotypical tropical island vibe, making it a nice and quiet retreat. We visited in the afternoon on a weekday, so there weren't many people around. The restaurant has plenty of seating with a beautiful ocean view from the cliffside. Unfortunately, a good portion of the menu was out of stock. The food was nicely plated and priced to match the plating style, the menu is on the pricey side, even by Filipino standards. My two companions were happy with their meals, but I was less impressed with my six-chip nacho plate. However, I admit I am a bit biased when it comes to nachos and Mexican food in general. I would visit again just for the relaxing view and a beer. The bar gave off a kind of Jimmy Buffett vibe, although I did not partake.
The pool area is nice with plenty of seating and shade. The infinity pool offers a fantastic view overlooking the ocean from the cliffside.
On our second visit, we spent most of my time at the South Point Divers dive shop. I would like to give special thanks to the dive master Johnny Garcia and the entire crew for providing an excellent Discover Scuba Dive package. I have never given a shout-out to an individual in a review before, but in this case, I was extremely impressed. Johnny was very personable, always smiling, and his instructions were clear, concise, and never rushed. The entire team is warm, welcoming, and highly knowledgeable. We did a pool session for familiarization before heading to the ocean. Describing the experience and showing pictures won't do it justice—it was truly incredible.
Overall, despite my opinion on the restaurant, Lemlunay Resort is a great place. I will definitely return and recommend it to...
Read moreI have been to Lemlunay four times and enjoyed the sight from the restaurant and the pool. The food is okay even though you never really feel welcome by the staff in the restaurant.||I have taken my wife, my family and friends there and handed over thousands of pesos. But it is over now. Why?||Because mainly I go to Lemlunay to dive while in General Santos to see my wifes family. And whats going on at South Point Divers, which is part of the resort, is not all right. ||The diving is fairly cheap, only 1150 p pr. dive incl. gear. But last year I was only down 35 minutes. This year was the worst. They give you only 190 in the tank while at most places you get 200 or 220 (f.x. Apo Island). In the deep I was asked how much air Id got left, and I replied 110. This caused the dive master Arthur to order me up to about 12 meters where there is only sand. There we stayed for the rest of the dive even though I signaled I wanted to go down. We surfaced before the two other divers, and when we finished I still had 70 left in my tank. I could have used the excess air to go further down and have an interesting dive. Instead I had mostly seen a pile of dirt.||Arthurs excuse was that I didnt have enough air from the time I had 110 in my tank. But that is pure fantasy. I am an advanced diver from Padi and has had 56 dives all in all in the Philippines, Thailand and Cuba. I know that if I had been able to use extra 30-50 I could have been down to 20-22 metres and had a good dive.||I dont know the real motives of Arthur. Was he just too lazy to dive that day? Or is it a conscious strategy to fill the tanks with too little air (THEY ALWAYS DO THAT) and take the divers to the surface after 35 minutes? Is it an order from the management? The owner (Paul) should explain this.||I intended to dive again that day, but after my latest experience I declined. Unless the practice at South Point Divers is changed I will stay away from Lemlunay bringing my family and friends to...
Read moreWe came here as its the closest dive resort to gensan. The experience overall was excellent.||||Accomodation ||||There are 3 types....|| Poolside.... Looked good but the rooms open up to the public areas so great if you have a family around the pool but not so great if you want more privacy.||Oceanside.... Each with a private front area with ocean views||||Garden view.....we stayed here. Was the cheapest and in my opinion the best. Overlooking the jungle with glimpses of the ocean. We set up a hammock in the shade of the trees for those lazy afternoons.||||Food.... The food here was good if not better than any dining experience I have had in the Philippines with a view overlooking the ocean. ||||Amenities..... Heaps to do for the kids and a great pool once again overlooking the ocean. All the staff were friendly too. ||||Diving. I came here to try some local diving and was pleasantly surprised. The resort is nested on a coral ledge that runs as far as you could swim.you only have to swim out 10 metres offshore and it drops off to 50 metres and beyond. There is no need to do any boat diving here as its all right on your doorstep. The ledge is covered in so much coral and fish life that you could do many dives here if you love tropical coral reefs. The snorkeling is just as good. You can swim just around the corner to find a shallow lagoon covered with soft corals. The staff were great. My partner who has never dived before did a trial dive here and loved it. The dive crew were safe, professional and friendly.||||I have read numerous other reviews on here and found them to be quite negative. Let me assure you that these must be posted by the minority and most people that come here would be pleasantly surprised. ||||All in all I loved it here and will definitely...
