Punta Isla Resort is perhaps the best place to stay in Lake Sebu, and I enjoyed every bit of my stay with them.||||Pros:||- Various modes of stay (dorm-type, with air-conditioning, without air-conditioning, etc.)||- Price is very reasonable - even for the air-conditioned rooms.||- Food is great (though usually good for more than one person.)||- A good introduction to Lake Sebu||- Various activities for people||- Can connect you to a habal-habal driver/tour guide.||- Quiet place especially at night so you can relax.||- Good view of the lake!!||- Has internet.||- Has amenities like towels.||- Has a small store where you can buy toiletries or water, although not 24/7.||- Souvenir store has reasonably-priced souvenirs.||||Cons:||- As it is too close to nature sometimes you will have insect visitors in your room. This was just a minor issue.||- When they say do not eat in your room, DON'T. The ants appear out of nowhere, and can be quite hard to get rid of.||- Too many stairs - not a problem for me, but may be a problem for those who hate stairs. It is a group of villas at the side of a small hill, so they really do need the stairs to go up and down.||- Cable not always working, depending on their cable provider. This is just a minor issue, especially since you won't really stay there to watch TV!!||- Free breakfast meal for overnight stay has really small portions as compared to the a la carte breakfast. (Again, minor concern for me - at least it's free.)||||Over all I enjoyed my stay and I will surely book with Punta Isla if ever I do go back...
Read moreI had the best experience in this resort.
We got here for a workshop that lasted 5 nights, so I really enjoyed our stay.
About the rooms, they have different types of rooms but what I got was a non air-conditioned room, at first I got disappointed but later being satisfied. why? I just realized that I don't need aircon in places like Lake Sebu, the climate temperature is averaging at 18 degrees Celsius. The beds are very comfortable , as are the blankets.
About the location, or the place. I can say that it's the best spot around the lake. I have witnessed the beauty of mountains surrounding the lake, also the resort has a nice landscape, full of flowers within resort facilities. Also the place has a nice sunset and sunrise.
About the food, currently this place is my favourite in terms of food. they're not serving usual and fancy foods you'll find in most hotels and resorts. They serve foods that are connected with their culture, and all of it tastes good. They have: 120 ways of cooking Tilapia ( a fresh water fish they cultured on the lake) Adobong kangkong Adobong sitaw Tinolang Manok (native) Ginataang langka and more
This place also preserved the culture of the T'boli tribe. We've got to watch indigenous dances of the tribe, also a demo of their musical instruments, and a demo of their...
Read moreWe came here around 12noon the place is packed and almost all tables are booked. They offered us tables on a floating hut with an additional charge of 300 per table. We were around 15 persons at the time so we had to take 2 tables. The problem is the serving time is no different than the tables back in the main restaurant. Paying for the tables does not do much justice and its a rainy day also so there's not much to see and the lake can be viewed from any seat at the main restaurant. We opted to wait back in the main restaurant while waiting for our orders and got a hut just beside the lake too - no table charges.
We ordered fried chicken, pancit bam-i, chicharon tilapia, kinilaw na tilapia and pork sinigang.
I love the presentation of the rice, its served with fried egg on top with veggies on the side.
The most notable dishes are chicharon tilapia and kinilaw. They serve the chicharon cracklings and the fish bone is served in the middle too. Their kinilaw has that distinct tangy taste that sets it apart from the cuisine in most of Luzon. I'm not sure if its because of the calamansi and Mayo mix but its definitely not cured in Vinegar.
Their serving time took about an hour and most dishes are for groups and priced moderately.
