First of all, I was disappointed because I heard and read a lot of good reviews about Phaidon, the very reason we booked our accommodation there.
Upon arrival, our booked room was "Bungalow" in Agoda but we were given the Standard Room. We tried to negotiate but we were told that it was what was sent to them thru the system.
The room, not so impressed. Nothing special about it. The bathroom door was creaking and needs to be fixed. I'm actually confused on their target market as the room is kind of expensive for backpackers but cannot meet the standards for middle-class market.
The food is good, but can do better. Maybe because of the pandemic but mostly of the choices are not available. They got some of our breakfast choices wrong but we let it slide. We were served by OJTs and one of them did not know the drink she is offering to the guests, which for me is a big no no.
Lastly, I have to be blunt about it. I don't like Ate Gurl on the Reception as I feel like she is not that friendly at all. I was surprised that we were not yet checked-out of the room but she went there and said she will get the extra bed as they will need it (hello, we were still at the room and we still have few minutes left before checkout).
These are just some of my observations. Ate Gurl did not know I'm from DOT so she probably did not think I might evaluate their work.
The staff at the Pool Bar did not give us a bucket of ice as he said "kinanglan namon maam para sa drinks", which we will also use for drinking. We were told to ask for ice on the pool bar but then we were not accommodated.
Super slow internet connection. It could have been a big help as there is no signal in the resort (you should go to the beach front to send a message or use your data).
The resort needs to level-up with the service and amenities if they want to be one of the best resorts in Antique.
P. S. The beach area is great, though! Sunset was...
Read morei wrote my experience on tripadvisor, some positive things, some negative, but Bernie kept on insulting me in answers, i had to ask 5 times trip advisor to erase his comments cos of his insults, "scammer", "idiot" etc... this place is very calm, with a fresh breeze, he keet his beach very clean, which is a very hard task exwpecially during raining seasons, but the restaurant is expensive and really passable, it s not tasty, frozen food, etc... the resort is so so, very average for the price, the activities are very expensive, the rooms need maintenance and renovation. when we went there, there was lots of work on going, construction of the pool, etc...lots of noise, and normal price, not even a little promotion for the inconvenience.
do not waste your time with an owner who insult his customers, u came, paid for ur stay and he insults you on sites.
answer yes it was last year, and ur pool just started, only the perimeter was done... so if i ve never been to your place that time, how would i know, each time someone leaves a negative comment, u ve never seen them...
i put 3 stars on tripadvisor, but because of all your insult there, i give you 1 star here. the comment was under our family account.
i am checking the lastest photos and it looks nice now, but i ll never come back, insulting your customers is the last...
Read moreI have been to this resort a few times for lunch. I spend time in nearby Aklan province every year where we have a home and I love the location of this place. The beach is beautiful and safe, the resort is low-key with good facilities. I ventured over to Boracay a couple of weeks ago to see the 'improvements' - traffic jams, overly populated with tourists and stressful. We decided to go with my partner's brother and sister-in-law to Phaidon for the weekend. What an antidote to Boracay. Our first time to actually stay there was very positive. We loved our lodge and the pool in the evening was just perfect. I have read other reviews about the owner: it seems he does keep himself to himself but I, for one, don't want to fawned over and have to make small talk every time we meet. I agree that some prefer that style but I like to be left alone to my own business. This place fulfils that need for me. The male receptionist (sorry, I can't remember his name) was charming and extremely helpful. Next time we are at our house, we will go back to Phaidon for a...
