La Parola Orchids Beach Resort Booked in for 2 nights the end of February with my Wife, daughter and extended Family. We stayed in the Family Apartment. Accommodation- Very basic indeed. The door the the apartment had no lock! No working light in main bedroom, TV did not work, Bathroom was a state shower leaking, cracked toilet, mould around the bath. No AC in main room we had to ask for a fan. The light in the bedroom was changed. We had too wait for the owners explanation why the TV did not work, he had not got round to connect it. These issues should have been resolved before we had checked in. Food- Surprisingly we where the only guests staying. Why did the food take so long? We had breakfast lunch and dinner here. The food was of reasonable quality but way overpriced. We ordered A whole chicken and got four pieces. Spaghetti and meat balls charged as two meals. I would stick with the native food as the western imitations are very dissapointing. Resort Grounds- An awkward fusion of European and native styles on a budget. The kids loved the pool but on the last day it was as green as pea soup. No direct access to the beach. Staff- Very Friendly and attentive but need more training in hotel and restaurant management.
Conclusion- The Owner has a benign indifference of what goes on at this resort and need to engage with staff and guests to ensure a more harmonious experience. To add insult to injury we where charged 5% for paying by card. This was not explained on the web site or the resort. Antique is an up and coming tourist destination. Lets hope we can have more players with more innovation and...

Read moreWe checked in quite late on April 20 after a long 3 hours drive from Iloilo City. We were both tired and hungry, but the very warm reception from the staff made the tiring trip well worth it. Thanks to Jonalyn and Dennis who immediately made us feel welcome.||We were given the Attic Room which was large and had a large bathroom with Jacuzzi.||The location is a bit far from the national highway but we had a rented car so it wasn't a problem. The food at the in-house restaurant was delicious and reasonably priced considering the big servings and the quality. We particularly liked the tropical pizza, the maya-maya sinigang and pancit canton. The complimentary Filipino breakfast of either tocino, longganisa or daing na bangus was very good too.||All the staff we met (Jonalyn, sha sha, Dennis and the rest) were all attentive, friendly and hardworking. They took care of all the guests like family. Our little one loved the pool. ||The only negative things I can mention are the following: (1) our room was not made up on the following day. The towels and bed sheets were not replaced. Maybe we should have requested, but we were accustomed to these being automatically done daily, and (2) the coffee served in the restaurant is the 3 in 1 variety. I didn't think that brewed coffee was more expensive, for after all the hotel charges Php 50 per cup. But really these are no big deals for us and these small issues did not affect our high rating for La Parola. We will be back when the opportunity comes in the future if only to experience once again the warm hospitality of the people in Antique in general, and the staff at La Parola...
