This experience started with a warm greeting at the Hotel door to be immediately told the Hotel was full. Once I announced that I had booked on Agoda then I was once again warmly greeted as a long lost cousin. Asking about motor bike rentals received blank stairs as if I was talking in swahili.||||The appearance and name of the Hotel is somewhat of a furphy "antique reproduction" quasi wanna be modern budget motel style more like it. The building is only 3 years old but already appears termites are residents on the main staircase, perhaps to give the wood a nice distressed look. ||Returning to the service it seemed rather friendly but useless. I will elaborate on this later. Room 4 turned out to be a poor choice concrete & neighbours rooftop as a view, a musty damp smell greeted me along with the cheap "Mandaue Foam" mattress and foam pillows which I certainly dislike. Fortunetely they put me into another room. Room 7 which had a decent sea view without th mildewy smell. Sadly the matress and foam pillows were also there to greet me along with a host of other issues, but it was certainly an improvement overall. The Cable TV comprised of a TV only with no set top box. Despite assurances they would get me a set top box so I could watch tv the on night stay was without television as it seems they had run out and from my colleague I heard that his set top box had a bar on it for non payment. Regardless I then set to work on trying to repair the air condition control panel which had a faulty knob and was stuck on low fan. The caretaker was very friendly yet somewhat ineffective in repairing this issue. Tackling the problem with first plyers, then a nail cutter, and finally resorting to a paper clip all proved useless as I tried desperately to explain to him they could not fit in the crevice to turn the mechanism. Of course his smiles and willingness to help however ineffictive he was did help to diffuse a rather commical and sad situation.||||Breakfast turned out to be pretty much as expected. had been betting on instant coffee, bread, egg (this felt like it had been plunged in an ice bucket or left in the freezer over night, and a sugary cordial.||To the merit of the chef the egg was well formed but just cold and the bread fresh but no jam or butter to accompany it. What was also rather dissapointing about "breakfast" was initially arriving at the breakfast area to be ushered away and told that there was a silver service for the town mayor taking place. Of course after having seen the silver service and wide food selection my hopes had been rather erroneously inflated from the reality which was discussed above and served on a small fold away plastic table outside our bedroom doors. Anything but fine dining or silver service that us plebs the hotel guest recieved in contract to VIP council workers.||All in all for a very basic 1 night stop over booked on Agoda for 1100 Peso it barely makes the "average" grade anything but a cracker vintage Heritage stop over. For the low budget my expectations were not too far...

Location, as previous reviewers have pointed out, is great -- just walking distance from the Seaview Park and wharf as well as stores and eateries. That said, was billeted in room 9 which held many surprises: almost all the electrical outlets were loose (the TV just went off in the middle of a SEAGames update and a plugged smartphone wasn't charging until re-plugged); the sink was leaking; the toilet bowl doesn't flush; the heater is working but the water pressure on the third floor apparently is too weak to flow to the heater. The bed is okay (a bit on the short side though) but I'm not really a fan of memory foam pillows. Good thing, these were offset by the very...

If you can stay as stopover to catch ferry within walking distance, then ok. They advertise wifi in all rooms, an outside pool and hot water. None of these things exist. The wifi is only in the reception. There is no pool. And the hot water is highly temperamental or unreliable. ||Breakfast is delivered in plastic takeaway container to your room with no choice to enjoy coffee or tea, only given juice. ||The room is basic and with a bathroom that needs a thorough clean. ||The staff are friendly and helpful only if you speak...
