This is a great place to stay if you really want to be away from the rest of the world. |It was quiet, peaceful, and very simple. We had such an overwhelming vacation schedule and this was a nice break from it all. |The staff, Claude, Marichu, and Quentin were great hosts. The food was fresh, great tasting, and refreshing. (Quentin, the coffee went they customs by the way)|We were able to upgrade to the main house for free due to a cancellation. |Claude was the most interesting man, with the greatest stories and shared his little piece of paradise with us, thank you Claude. |The property was huge, beautiful, lots of things to explore, and lots of different animals.|If you don't like animals or outdoor things, this is not the place for you. (The turkeys hated me btw). Lots of cats, 2 turkeys, 2-3 dogs, a monkey (I didn't meet him). We had a small frog that came into the room, and we were careful not to step on him. Claude was an absolute lover of all living things and you should be the type of person that does the same. Although we were technically guests that paid for the room, I felt the respect that made me feel I was coming into a family members home. The staff made us feel like family and shared their stories and experiences with us. I will never forget this place.|It's very close to a fishing village and we saw them bring up their catch in the afternoon. Pebble beach nearby and a 300-500 yr old mango tree.|The local sarisari stores were very friendly. |But overall, this place made me really appreciate what it is to be Filipino and how to live life how it should be. |Mangrove Staff, we will be back if...
Read moreAn extremely charming and relaxed place for peace and nature oriented guests - nature and hiking lovers, on-the-road backpackers, etc. You should be a cat & dog person, too.||||Money-wise an absolute opposite to El Nido, the place is not money oriented at all, very roughly made bills, lots of free drinks etc. so tip them if you are happy there & have that chance. Yet the service is solid, very friendly overall, and the cooks are just awesome. Actually, the food is way above the Phils' standards, so good I noticed myself getting lazy & fat instead of making trips. Cheap & fun small group oriented trips to waterfalls may be offered to you, among other things.||||It is situated in a small fishing village with only one resort, so expect to be treated like a rock star down the village which is good or bad depending on your attitude. The beach down there is no superstar but it's an OK swim with waves. If you're a beach person go to San Vincente Long Beach instead.||||One of the biggest butterflies in the world, the Palawan Birdwing, is regularly occuring in the Mangrove Resort garden. You can play hide and seek with lots of butterflies in the garden maze down by the river :)||||If you're a luxury oriented, noisy spoiled person please skip this place as you don't deserve. But if you love all aspects I've mentioned above, go & enjoy and book as much nights...
Read moreTravelling with A good place for nature lover travellers Mangrove Resort was one. It is set 5mn walk off main road in a lush tropical garden facing a beautiful river. Canoes are available if you wish to paddle your way and explore it. Another 10mn walk will take you to a secluded beach.|My room was comfy and quiet with attached bathroom, soap and shampoo.|Breakfast is available at a bargain price and just great. I had coffee, tasty eggs from the owner's hens, home made veggies salad, home made french bread with french butter and german jam, and a whole papaya straight from the garden :-) all this facing the jungle and watching at birds.|Claude the owner is a long time traveller and a story teller. Get ready to share experiences as this place is meant for real unfussy travellers more than for sad and unhappy tourists... Thanks Claude and your wife for the moment and for the memory, even if sometimes, happiness is having no memory......
