Publikhaus — Hotel in Samal

We had an unforgettable 3-night stay in Samal Island, made even more special by our very accommodating host! Coming all the way from Butuan City, Agusan del Norte, I wasn’t familiar with the area. But the host went the extra mile, she personally called me while I was on the bus to guide me where to stop and how to get to the port going to Samal. That kind of thoughtfulness is rare and truly appreciated, especially for first-timers.

The place itself was clean, peaceful, and relaxing. The rooftop deck was definitely the highlight—it offered an amazing overlooking view, especially in the morning. It’s such a great feeling to wake up and be greeted by that kind of scenery.

The location is very accessible, just a 10-minute walk from the port. But if you’re carrying heavy luggage, we recommend riding a bao-bao (a local tricycle), it’s only ₱20 from the port to Publikhaus and makes the trip much easier.

Everything was worth it, from the stay, to the view, to the warm hospitality. We’ll definitely miss this lovely place, the kind-hearted host, and their adorable dog, Charlie, who was so friendly...

From the moment I booked until our arrival, the owner was incredibly kind and accommodating. The place itself was superb exceptionally clean, quiet, and beautifully maintained. It felt like a true home away from home, offering a safe and welcoming environment.

The location is fantastic, with easy access to some of the best beaches and resorts nearby. My fiancé and I have absolutely no regrets choosing Publikhaus for our stay.

In fact, when we return to Samal, this will definitely be our go to accommodation.

What truly made our experience special was the owner’s genuine care and support. She even kindly offered me a good luck meal ahead of my triathlon event the next day such a thoughtful touch that really made me feel cared for.
