I understand this is probably the best and most luxurious hotel in Allen (Northern Samar) which may make it a 4 - 5 star Filipino hotel but it would average a 2 -3 Star in Australian standards. I did find the cost excessive - 3,200 peso a night (about $100AUD) in the Filipino contexts. We stayed for 3 nights. Our room was brilliant - overlooking the ocean, very spacious and bright. A few interesting features - the room key / lock was a bike chain around the door handles. The shower had a constant run of water into a bucket. I actually found this very distressing with the waste of water given that so many Filipinos have to go to a communal well to cart water back to their village homes. The wash basin came away from the wall meaning that the water simply ran down the back of the basin onto the floor. The bed was uncomfortable and the room was not serviced at all during our stay. The positives - the meals were great and the food very tasty and well prepared. It did take some time for the meals to come but the kitchen staff and hostess explained this - they were doing everything and locals came in for meals as well. The restaurant area was lovely - outside facing the ocean. All staff were pleasant and helpful. The handyman was working constantly (but major repair work needs to happen). The pool area was beautiful and the sunsets divine. The area was safe for tourists. Wi Fi available downstairs at the restaurant area. We enjoyed our stay at this hotel but found the room problems...
Read moreLet me start with the good stuff because it was mostly good. Great view, lovely breakfasts and food in general, clean pool, friendly staff. Room, ok - no hanging space at all. We were getting married so we had to hang our wedding outfits from the curtain rail. No hot water in the shower (or anywhere else). There was an electric water heater with a light on it indicating it had power but, it didn’t heat water. I got used to cold showers as they helped to cool down as the small, through wall air conditioner struggled in the afternoon sun even with the curtains closed. Worst thing; I was having an afternoon nap and woke up to hundreds of tiny ants all over me. I was bitten a lot. Very itchy and red for several days. 10 days later now, and I still have many red bite marks. I guess there’s not much that can be done about that. Rain was threatening and that put the ants on the march for higher ground - I just happened to...

We arrived at this place and was settled to our room, only to find out we were booked on their different branch which was named Socorro Cafe in Google map and has a sign outside Birmingham place. The room was okay, has tv, toiletries was provided, The lounge area and dining area is great. Breakfast was great. The staffs are all helpful and nice. Downside for me was You can't access WiFi inside your room. Most rooms are in the second floor(no elevator) Small space in the room. No space for bags. Pool looks dirty because of bird's shit. 😅 Toilet flash playing up (both ours and parent's room. 6.No TV and no mirror (at our parent's room)
