We spent 4 nights at Villa Marmarine and it was a very relaxing time. |The first two nights we had a really nice queen size bed and sea-view room, with the AC. For the last two nights, due to availability (we booked late), we moved into a cheaper 3-single-bed room. While it was definitely a lower standard (hostel feel), the price was fair and we even got a small discount on it. ||There are lovely homes / suites at the resort too so worth calling them to check the options. ||A great breakfast is included in the price of the room. Additionally, for stays over 2 nights there’s a free laundry service. There is a port drop off for the ferry rides (and they booked our tickets as well). The place offers a motorcycle rental at a good price (300 pesos, cheaper than in town). ||The restaurant serves very good, locally sourced food at affordable places. We had only one meal outside of the resort, because we really enjoyed it. ||The beach is right in the front. There are hammocks outside and a few beach chairs (although not directly on the beach). The water is nice, but there are rocks and plants so worth having water shoes. As everything on the island is close, there are better beaches for swimming. Usually we were the only people on this beach, which feels very peaceful. ||The highlight of our stay was the kind and accommodating staff. The resort runs a working student program where university age students learn how the resort runs and do all tasks, from check-in, serving food through house keeping. |In general, this place is involved and supportive of the local community which we really appreciate. ||The owner is Japanese and very nice. The staff came to say goodbye to us at the end of our visit, which was...
Read moreI can't say enough about this wonderful place. The location was beautiful; the staff was friendly and accommodating; the food was fresh and delicious; the rooms were gorgeous; and the price was almost too good to believe. I don't just want to go back, I feel obligated to tell everyone I know about this place so they don't miss out.
We stayed for three nights and loved every second. In the mornings we would snorkel in the area directly in front of the beach... like 10 meters away from our room! We saw tons of colorful fish, beautiful reefs, and strange and mysterious sea creatures. The water was warm and crystal clear. The best time was around 9am and if you venture out just past standing height, you will be rewarded.during the day we rented a scooter and explored the island. The people were incredibly friendly. We lost the key to our motorbike while cliff diving and everyone was willing to help. At night we would enjoy the great food in the restaurant or take the short ride to any one of the island great eateries. My favorite was road side roasted chicken!
Bottom line is,...
Read moreIt is one of the best sea view Villas I had ever stayed ever! During my stay I talked with many guests and we all agree on one point, that is the food here in VM is the best on this island! As you might know, Philippine cuisine is always BBQ, BBQ and BBQ. We are glad we can find some ramen🍜🍜here. And VM will provide you all the needed diving information and they have their own boat and dive master. You don't need to make any plan or schedule before coming, just ask the front desk and they will share all the information to you.
More important is the staff here are sooooo nice and kind, their warm hospitality and smile pervade in the air, make you feel comfortable and home. Even though I had left the island for many days, when I think back of Siquijor I can l only remember the happy time spent in Villa Marmarine. For me, VM = Siquijor.
Even though it's a pity that I haven't met the Japanese boss as he went back Japan for holiday. But I really want to say thank you to him and his family as they had made our vacation even...
