We stayed 4 nights in mid September 2023 and hoped for a pleasant memorable experience. Quite disappointed. This place is an amateur show run by various family members that have little clue about providing customer satisfaction. The room was hot as an oven with no airconditioning. Large window and patio door with full exposure to hot mid day and afternoon sun. The windows have some super cheap and ineffective paper window shades. There was a table fan in the room to circulate the hot air.. The room only cools down well after midnight. Though there's a nice dining room with a limited but decent menu, many of the items are unavailable and you need to order well in advance. Iust say the Georgian (or Moldova?) wine was excellent and inexpensive. For the first time in my life of travelling internationally for 55 years, this place charges for an extra pillow. Not much, but the gesture is inappropriate. This hotel. Doesn't even want to give you some ice cubes without a fee, even though they had plenty in the kitchen. Every little thing you ask for, they want a fee. At the breakfast buffet (included in price), the food was good but limited offering and inconsistent from day to day. Some days, no coffee from the machine and needed to be ordered from the kitchen. Besides apples almost no fruit offered, and some needs to be washed( like plums). The toaster often disappears and sometimes doesn't work. Once they had no yogurt, Really disorganized. We've travelled to about 14 different hotels in Poland over 8+ weeks, and this place (Hotel Kasztelan) was the worst, I'm...
Read moreOn the plus side: ||||(1) VERY GOOD LOCATION. Quiet, green neighbourhood, very close to the Dobczyce reservoir, right next to the historic castle hill (that also have a little rural open air museum). Nice landscaping around the building (sits on a quite large piece of land, on a slope, with trees etc.). The gates and doors close for the night so it is safe (the neighbourhood is safe anyway).||||(2) VERY NICE ROOMS. I've seen two (but have no reason to suspect they were an exception). They were large, clean, comfortable, reminded me of rooms one can find in a hotel of a higher standard. Clean, large bathrooms, nice comfortable beds, very clean bedsheets, etc. Nothing falls apart and is in good condition. Same goes for the hallways. Altogether, the hotel part is great and I recommend.||||(3) Free, well-working WiFi.||||On the neutral side: the lobby area and dining room - clean but not too appealing, even with some a bit "kitsch" elements.||||On the minus side: FOOD. Rather poor selection and poor quality, average service. I believe we even had meals which had been brought from outside (a catering company?), not prepared on site. ||||So, in summary, you'll enjoy the area, you'll have a great night's sleep, you'll have average / OK service... BUT you better BYOF (bring your...
Read moreTreated unfairly by the owner/manager. After discovering that not all my wedding guests will be able to come I contacted the hotel and asked if they will be able to sell extra rooms which I didn't need anymore. They said that they will try but cannot guarantee - which is fair enough. Couple days before arrival I asked if they managed to sell - no clear answer but to my surprise manager said that I now have less rooms for the same price as the price increased due to less rooms booked! I tried to call and explain as this wasn't what we agreed but manager/owner failed to answer. I would not recommend this hotel ! Please avoid if you don't want to be misled or charged...
