Read moreWriting this from the palace since I can’t sleep in this summer humidity at 2:00 a.m. 😅
The Bad ❌ •The green emergency light above the door is obnoxiously bright. Whoever chose this fixture should be required to sleep in these rooms—it’s honestly terrible. (See my nighttime photo taken from the parking lot for reference.) TIP: Bring a sleeping eye mask if you plan to stay here. •Bed is hard, and the linens feel rough on the skin. •Floors are incredibly loud, both in and outside the room. I get that it’s an old building, but wow! The walls are paper thin—you’ll hear every movement from rooms beside, above, and below you. It’s like this throughout the palace. •No climate control. In the summer, your room temperature = outside temperature + added humidity. Can’t even crack a window open because there’s a sign warning not to, due to bats entering the rooms. •Dead bat and piles of guano were found just outside the window of my parents’ room (Room 112). •The palace is visibly in disrepair and in need of serious maintenance. •Leaks everywhere. At 7:45 a.m., we got a knock on our door because water from our room was leaking into the room below. •Active honey bee hives are just a few feet away from guest parking. Not great for anyone with allergies. (Photo included.)
The Good ✅ •The palace architecture and grounds are stunning. Beautiful views from the bridge by the pond. I spent time walking, enjoying the scenery—and picking up trash 🗑️. •Restaurant food was delicious and fairly priced 😌 •Free breakfast with a nice variety (photo attached). •Free parking, and they have an EV charging station ⚡️ •The staff were kind and welcoming, especially to us Americans. Everyone treated us with respect 😊 Helps to be fluent in Polish without them knowing 🤫
This place has potential, but the company that owns it needs to step up—or sell it to someone who genuinely cares—before it literally burns down again… My room outlet kept cutting in and out during the night, and my phone just sat on the nightstand charging. When I woke up my type E charger (no adapter used) was hot to the touch. That’s concerning, especially with family sleeping under the same roof.
The pool is under construction, but we were aware of that when we booked.
