We have had a room in this hotel for 3 nights and invited 7 guests for a meal in the restaurant. My review is based on this stay in August 2016. ||||The hotel / pension leaves me with the strongest mix of feelings ever after a stay.||||The most impressive feature is defiantly the location. Located at a lake in a huge lake district this is the ideal base for hikers or kayaking. The main road in front of the hotel has not to much traffic and does not lower the comfort. Travelers with kids might pay extra attention though. Dogs seem to be very welcome in all areas.||||The arrival was very pleasant. The woman at the reception greeted us friendly and with a few jokes. A lot can be learned from that particular staff member. Sadly this was the only smile for the rest of the stay we saw from the staff.||||The room was nicely decorated and some thoughts have been put in to the concept of the pension. In the hotel area there are lots of posters from all over the world. However, somehow it has been tried to mix an international theme with the local tradition of the hotel. Interesting to see are some pictures taken somewhere between 1900 and 1930, as the hotel was for example called "Waldschänke Klinger". This is actually what it is in my opinion, a rustically pension and forest restaurant, not a high standard international stop for travelers it wants to be.||The room was not clean at all. Spider webs in the bottom corner of the bathroom do indicate a lack of cleaning and the shower still had clearly visible dried soap foam from the last shower everywhere.||A few corners might need some attention going beyond a splash of paint, which has been spread quite generously over every edge and somehow gave the room a rather "rustically" look.||The bed was big, however the mattress very soft if not heavily worn out.||There is no room cleaning and not even the trash in the bathroom is emptied over the period of stay.||For the price this all, except the cleaning, is still very acceptable and does not put us off, if we look at a place to stay with that kind of location. What was not acceptable is that we booked an apartment (2+1 ; and had a couch on the pictures) and got the double room (very small, but still okay) for the same price. If rooms are changed, please tell the guest and do not deduct the higher price.||||The quality of the breakfast is good. Various types of cheese and meat combined with local bread, sweet cakes and all sorts of teas are again rather local themed. Rolles are not served all the time.||Most disturbing was the chaos at breakfast. The staff literal pushed me out of the way to take away the perfectly stacked cheese dome, that I had just opened, to refill it. Not one morning there was a friendly smile or a little sense of letting the guests get their food. I was under the impression that I as the guest am constantly bothering the staff and am in their way. Stacking the food goes without the guests even noticing it in good hotels, at least we shouldn't feel like we are a disturbance! A friendly advice is to rearrange the setup. so that the staff may stack the table from behind and maybe to put the fresh plates at one side (guides the guests from one side to the other and gives a kind of starting point to prevent the "blobbing").||||The food in the restaurant was good, too. Prices are high for local standards but quite fair compared to the quality of the food. We tried a lot of different dishes with 7 people, none was disappointed. The hand crafted beer rounds of this experience. But here again the negative sides completely undo the good experience with food and drinks. The service seemed overworked, highly stressed and unable to take some time for the guests. It seemed more important to fire out some memorized information about what the owners introduced like a machine gun, then to actually give the guest a simple smile and serve food in a calm manner. I rather have a smiling, joking and friendly waitress then knowing the life story of her manager, sorry.||Putting up a sign for the next reservation on the table we had reserved, while we where still eating, only again gave the feeling of not being wanted as a guest and had more the feeling of a fast food restaurant....but there I can sit more then 30 minutes to eat my food.||Fitting into this picture was an indecent, where one of the owners/managers (as we learned later) was at the restaurant desk and we asked a question. Normally I would expect a reply of some sort of her, even it it is just a short "my staff will attend to you shortly". Not even looking at us and completely ignoring us was not what I would call service. My company repeated the question for information again in native polish... still with no reply. ||||Biggest no go ever for a good restaurant: dogs where frequently walking in the entire eating area, not only at breakfast times. There is a big terrace with tables and I would recommend limiting dogs to that area, as it might not be pleasant for all guests to have a husky trying to grab a bite of the the own boar meat on the table or the dog on a guests arm liking around the blue cheese at breakfast.||||Overall there is a lot of potential here which sadly is not used. The location is ideal and the ideas are promising. However please do decide what you want to be. A international "place for travelers" as advertised on the webside? Sorry, but this it is not. Service quality, mindset to service at guests and cleanliness are far off any hotel standard. Why not stick to the local themed forest pension? The cooks prepare marvelous food that is based on local dishes, the hand crafted beer is great, only the service needs a huge tweak, starting from...
Read moreI have visited Przystanek Tlen restaurant many times. I reviewed here my recent experience when dining. At the same occasion I stayed overnight. I am aware of a nice and touching story the owners attach to this place. It is time to confront a nice story to the reality. And the reality is not rosy at all. First of all: where is the smile??? Nobody smiled to me during my stay. I know it's November, it's gloomy outside but we should smile even more to overcome it! But no, the staff is dead serious... The room, which was single, was surprisingly spacious. Nice surprise as usually single rooms are very small. The bed was comfy with a duvet on a rather thin side. But... Devil sits in details. The room was filled with a strange smell which later was replaced by smells from kitchen. There is no bedside lamp. Big deal for me as I like to read before I doze off. There was no coffee in the room. I went to the reception and the guy there went: "the girls must have ran off it". Excuse me?? And he brought me a china cup with a spoon of instant inside. No cream/ creamer though. That's two details. Next one: the bathroom is very small and there is no place to put your washing bag. Important as the hotel doesn’t provide toiletries. The next: breakfast was generally good but no fruit juices. But I can live without them for a while. But what was utterly unacceptable was a temperature of so called "hot food", i.e. scrambled eggs and sausages. They were stiff cold! And finally when I was leaving in the morning nobody asked whether everything was Ok, nobody wished me a good day, nobody smiled... So unfortunately my impression is that it is a place with no special atmosphere, I would even risk to say, slightly neglected by the owners who take advantage of this place history and location. None of these is for their credit though... It could have been much nicer place to stay if only the owners pay...
Read moreI want to promote this place specially for the enthousiasm of the boys working there.||One can see immediately, specially the young boy in the bar, who is a really a milestone of that place in my opinion.||One can see his attitude far away and he deserves our approval and gratitude.||May I politely give the Management a few suggestions:||1. most we all love dogs and other pets, however I guess there are many other places where to place their beverage and food else than right in the entrance of the hotel;||2. the rooms should have a better lighting, specially those in the back side;||3. the rooms should have a desk with enough space where one might work with the computer if needed||4. the bathroom might have some little amenity, like a shampoo - shower gel set.||At the end, this place left me a good impression specially for the boy offering a taste of their own beers (i like the weiss type) and a fantastic dessert "kruszona z krem vanilowa" which might give life back to the dead people.||Really, a few steps and you give a new life to an...
