This is a review of the Palace Staniszow restaurant only.||||The palace complex is located in one of the most beautiful parks of Lower Silesia created by Peter Joseph Lenné.||||A large part of the lower level of the palace is occupying by a restaurant. A few interestingly decorated interiors create separate dining rooms, allowing you to dine in a unique setting. What's more, during the summer you can also enjoy food or a glass of wine in the open air. Eating in the fresh air enriches the sound of greenery and water coming from the English style palace park.||||The restaurant looks OK, although it would definitely be nice to refresh it. Especially floors on this level of the building require some attention.||||Unfortunately, during our visit, it was a bit worse with food and service. ||||We ordered a total of over ten dishes in total. We had no objections to the vast majority. Beautifully presented, eye-catching dishes tasted good. Unluckily, two of the served food have had problems. First - monkfish with truffle sauce served without the title truffles. Due to a mistake in the kitchen, two main components creating the taste of the whole dish went missing. The second fake dish was grilled vegetables. The eggplant they served was half raw.||||The worst, however, was the lack of the waiter professionalism, who unnecessarily was trying to protect the kitchen. He did not succeed. To make matters worse, he tried to downplay the errors of the kitchen's staff, suggesting our cuisine master chef ignorance... What a pity.||||In total, the food we rated quite well, but the price-quality ratio is not impressive. The small discount we got due to the kitchen mistakes and waiter ignorance was definitely the nice gesture, however ... we will not come...
Read moreThis time, while being in Sudety, my husband and I decided to stay in Pałac Staniszów (Staniszów 100). |Personally, I felt disappointed. In my view, the palace hasn’t been renovated properly. There’s a lot of talk of how brilliant the renovation was (you can read about it both in the menu and in the leaflet available in the rooms), and even about the awards granted to the owners, but… A historic building like this one doesn’t necessarily have to be neglected; however, this is exactly what you get here. On the outside, the palace is nothing special. On the inside, it’s even worse. Old and shabby, not old and grand. |We stayed in an “apartment” WODNIK (Aquarius) on the second floor of the main building – the ceiling there is very low, the furniture looks unkempt, the bathroom is most bizarre: few tiles, much wood, plus very many sloped walls. The room overlooks the parking lot and the road, which is not very appealing.|The restaurant – not very cosy, overdecorated, rickety and dirty chairs, not very nice linen, BUT good food. The service was so-so. Much better at breakfast than during the day. Some waiters don’t know what they’re doing, sadly. |The pool (and the spa) – located in another building, so a walk is required (there’s no passage or corridor leading there directly).|The park – large, with many paths, but also very neglected. A few very old trees, but you can see they’re on their last legs, so to speak. The owners should have hired a conservationist right at the beginning.|To sum it up, a very expensive place (almost $200 per night) which doesn’t deliver. It might be worth visiting the restaurant when you’re in the neighbourhood, but I wouldn’t recommend staying there. We definitely...
Read moreThe Palace Staniszow should/could have a 5 star rating as it has everything for a wonderful romantic hideaway and travel back into time:||- The old palace has been nicely renovated and refurbished keeping the charme of the old|times.|- The hotel facilities are great: A wonderful 20m heated indoor pool, a nice spa, a beautiful restaurant with a great garden terrace and a wonderful and huge park|- The restaurant cuisine is simply excellent. All our dishes throughout 2 days were absolutely excellent and nicely presented!||So why do we rate it only with 3 stars:||1. Room|- We had a two level suite in the Spa part. Furniture is rather flee market than castle style. the living area upstairs without anything (e.g. TV) makes it rather useless, the pillows were very soft and of very low quality||2. Service personnel|The personnel throughout the entire hotel needs urgently some real professional training:|- At the check in no help with the luggage whatsoever was offered. It is considered to be normal that guests carry their heavy suitcases upstairs themselves|- In the restaurant with one noteable exception (Ms. Anna) no one speaks English (some German, though) or has the basic knowledge/training for the job. Apart from most of the waitresses making the impression that working there is a big torture for then, some basic service knowledge and attitude is missing. This is most noteable at breakfast when tables are not cleaned up and prepared rapidly, coffee serving takes ages and friendliness towards guests seems to be an unknown concept.|How a good and friendly professional service by a very young team works properly can be studied at nearby Palace...
