My husband and I stayed at Herdade Dos Barros with a group of 8 who were hiking in the Alenjento countryside. We arrived late in the day hot and tired, and we were welcomed with open arms ( literally ), shown to our comfortable large rooms, and pointed in the direction of the swimming pool....what a treat THAT WAS. The pool is huge...there are plenty of chairs and umbrellas and when the temperatures soar, that pool is a lifesaver.||||The hotel itself is rural and relaxing and the owner (Rui) simply could not be more accommodating. He and his mother run the restaurant and the food is exceptional....authentic Portuguese style and very plentiful. We just couldn't get over the quality or the huge portions.||||If you really want a break from life's hectic pace, this is the place to go...you will be awakened by roosters and stunning views and will find yourself in a quiet little spot with no stress. Be aware though that the WiFI connection is sporadic and there will be times you have no connectivity....go for a walk...

We couldn't have found a better place.||||There are just 4 rooms, a restaurant, and a pool. Plus a stunning view of a castle and a barn. ||||It was an amazing little place.
