We were 2 couples and had 3 days exploring the beautiful city of Porto. It was time to chill, and we hit on the right spot.....Outros Tempos in Aricera. The village has a population of approx 150 and Outros Tempos is the only commercial operation............apart from the business of producing peaches, apples, nectarines and of course wine. Accommodation is divided between the main building and another set of buildings about 100m away. The pool is located here and meals are taken at a long table in the main building where you`ll engage with other visitors. Food is excellent and reasonably priced. Our accommodation was a 2 bed apartment, which was a cleverly and tastefully restored old building on 2 levels. We had a kitchen and separate living room. It was well equipped. Roads in the area are narrow, and twist up and down through the hills and the village is close to Pinhao and Regua. Armamar is a lovely small market town and is only about 7-8 mins away. It was too hot for walking during our stay, but there were lots of paths and quiet roads nearby...

Nestled in a small stone village in the Duoro Valley it was an incredible find. Gracious hosts, wonderful food, port and accommodations. The lady of the house was a lovely woman full of grace and charm. When she cooks, she cooks! There is no shortage of delicious food. At dinner, the appetizers alone would be a meal and then the real meal arrived! 10 desserts and Port capped off the meal. Distressed that we did not tell her we were vegetarians she went out of her way to provide us with even more food! Our room was spacious, had air conditioning and a very modern bathroom and a balcony that overlooked the small village. In the morning, we skipped breakfast, we were still full from the previous night's dinner but we could again see a generous choice of options. When we left, feeling more like family than strangers, she gave us pear and apple homemade jam as a parting gift. Delightful in every way and a true authentic Douro...
