Firstly, this was impossible to find even with a satnav. What I would recommend is photographing exactly where it is on a google map and have a satnav as it is at the very end of a small lane.||The situation of the hotel is in a very charming rural setting and was very quiet as we were the only people there on a cold February night.||The room we had was very small though it had a couple of huge wardrobes with plenty of hanging space, shelves etc.Good deep bedside drawers too. There was a tv but it was a small tv monitor with just a few Portuguese channels with a terrible signal.||The bed was a good queen size but was too hard for me and I actually like a firm bed. Also the pillows were too hard for me as they were a firm memory foam.||The heating system was good as we neede it at that time of year.||The bathroom had a lovely new looking deep bath with head rest in it but the shower attachment only pulled out at the side and had a loose incorrectly size washer on it so we got water everywhere when trying to use the shower. The only toiletries provided were soap and shower gel in a container on the wall. There was though, a very good supply of hot water but nowhere to put any toiletries apart from the windowsill.||If you want breakfast please make sure that you have proof of pre paying because we had the Hotels.com booking confirmation with us which stated breakfast was included but when the staff showed us their confirmation from the site Hotels.com did not mention it on their confirmation to the hotel. As we were going for a meeting we did not have time to go somewhere else for breakfast so paid for breakfast at the hotel. But if you have time I would not bother as it wasnt really up to much. Maybe it was because they were empty. ||The staff were very friendly and sweet and there was a small pool which we would have used if there at a different time of the year.||As it was so charming I would like to recommend this hotel but the bed and pillows were just too...
Read moreThe owners were very friendly and helpful, and very patient with my lack of the French language. There is one person who speaks English, and she was a lifesaver! The restaurant was closed the evening I arrived, but the 2 ladies went out of their way to make sure I had dinner. I didn't want to leave the property and go to a restaurant, having driven most of the hot day on a motorcycle. So they organized dinner just for me!!!! (I was one of 2 guests, and the other guest was sightseeing.) ||They even took a picture of me and my motorcycle before I left! ||I will be back!||||Bed mattress is a bit hard. But then there are people who like that, so not entirely a negative. ||There are no restaurants nearby, be sure you plan dinner elsewhere!||The hotel may seem hard to find, but my gps took me right to it. Just be patient and follow...
Read moreWe've stayed at hotel Alves for 6 nights, a very quit and lovely countryside place, 5km outside the city of Braga. The hotel has 10 rooms, divided over 2 blocks, and is managed by 2 sisters, which are very friendly and helpful, dedicated to their job. Everything in and around the place is build and maintained in style of the region, which gives it its character. Rooms are not big, but everything you might need is there. ||Some recommendations: as there is only a bath, one have to shower in the tub. A screen or curtain would be helpful. Air conditioning was not working at the time. Mattresses were too hard for us. ||Furthermore both breakfast and dinner were perfect and delicious! Great value for money it is, perfect if you want to flee from the overcrowded cities or...
