What a surprise - we found the Inatel hotel in Linhares de Beira on Booking.com, and it was one of those hidden treasures. The older facade of the buildings has been preserved, but inside is a combination of very modern furnishings with old stone walls, high ceilings, huge fireplaces, deep windows and it all works beautifully. ||||Our room was large and airy with two deep bay windows overlooking the old village, the castle and the valley. The bathroom was huge and modern, the free wifi worked very well, the hotel had beautiful gardens, a lovely swimming pool and tennis courts overlooking the village and the mountains.||||The staff were excellent, spoke good English, and recommended that we try the one and only restaurant in the village, Cova da Loba (which I have also reviewed). The walk up to the castle is worth it, particularly if you take a bottle of wine to have while you watch the sunset - brilliant.||||As others have mentioned, this hotel, and indeed the whole village, was well worth a look, and very good value. The rooms are beautiful and beds and pillows are fine. Everything is spotless clean. And they serve good sandwiches and toasts in the bar as a substitute for a restaurant. Linhares is a beautiful and...
Read moreWe stayed one night in May....this hotel is fantastic value for money. The breakfast was very generous, the room was beautiful and the bath enormous! Relaxing and views to die for. The walk to the room along seemingly never-ending corridors might be a problem for people with mobility issues? Also, some noise from next door room, so sound proofing a bit of a shame - take ear plugs and all will be well (we were in room 204)! The gardens are stunning, and the staff really helpful and friendly, and spoke very good English. The village is small and not much to it sadly, but as part of a visit to this area,...
