Laje da Bica is hands-down the BEST private accommodation that we have ever had the pleasure of discovering!

We take advantage of our ability to work remote and have traveled all over Portugal, and there is no other place that we could compare this to. Armando and Americo have built a modern, luxurious property, where adults can stay, disconnect from the stress of the city, and enjoy the beautiful scenery and calming environment that surrounds them. Upon entering the villa, the first thing you notice are the floor to ceiling glass doors that slide open to create the perfect indoor/outdoor living space. The view is breath-taking, and we spent many a moment just looking out across the corrals and the valley, admiring the mountains, listening to the birds chirping, and breathing in the beauty that surrounded us.

The villas are situated at a distance from the main house, so you maintain your privacy, while still enjoying the benefit of Armando greeting you every morning with a hearty smile and basket of fresh, delicious local delights. We spent two weeks on the property and never tired of such a warm, wonderful way to wake up. The units are very well equipped, providing you everything you need for your temporary home; a VERY comfortable bed, toiletries for the bathroom, a fully stocked kitchen, high-speed internet, flat screen TV, dining area (that we also used as a workstation), a very comfortable couch from which to enjoy the view, etc. We stayed at the end of winter/early spring and the weather was perfect for having the windows open to enjoy the fresh, crisp air every day. We were surprised at how well-insulated the villa was, as we never needed to turn on the heat.

On top of all this, they also allow you to bring your furry companion with you! We brought our small dog, who loved enjoying the sunshine on the terrace, and he even made friends with the owner's dogs. An added bonus is being able to experience farm life at your fingertips. I love animals, and the highlight of my day was visiting the bird sanctuary and horse livery. Ducks, geese, chickens, horses, dogs - I was in heaven! The property even has procurable stalls available in the stable, should you be traveling with your horse and need a place for both you and them to stay. Wonderful!

Nearby, it's a short drive to Covilhã for all your daily shopping or dining needs, and about an hour drive to the magnificent Monsanto, a historic medieval village worth exploring.

Dramatic sunsets, spectacular lenticular cloud formations, refreshing swimming pool, I could go on and on, but needless to say, we loved this place, and especially loved getting to know Armando and Americo, the most genuine and most wonderful hosts you could imagine. This is one of those rare retreats you discover and wish you could stay forever. Pictures do not do it justice.

Procurava nestas férias piscina, natureza e sossego! Quando a minha mulher me perguntou onde queria ir estes dias eu disse: "Quero ir onde haja meia-duzia de pessoas!" pois quero descansar, estar tranquilo e desfrutar da natureza. Quando chegámos lá eram exatamente 6 pessoas, meia-duzia!!! Que coincidência!! 😀 Eu e a minha mulher, 1 casal ao lado e os proprietários Armando e Américo. As condições da casa eram perfeitas, cozinha, ar condicionado, colchão super confortável....5 estrelas. A vista do quarto para a Serra quer de dia quer de noite é Lindissima!! 😍 A piscina é de água salgada, sempre limpa e com uma vista para a serra brutal, vale a pena estar na piscina a ver o por-do-sol. Pequeno-Almoco 5 estrelas, muita comida, bebida, doces, bolos...devo ter trazido 1 kilo a mais no meu peso. 🤣🤣🤣 Quanto aos proprietários Américo e Armando só tenho coisas boas a dizer. Sempre muito atenciosos, super simpáticos, sempre disponíveis... Foram "apenas" 3 noites mas senti-me em casa. Amei! ❤ Em Agosto estamos de volta e acredito que depois de Agosto irremos regressar novamente pois como disse anteriormente senti-me em casa e isso é Muito importante para mim.
