This place is over priced, unprofessional and they lie.Save your money and your points because you will loose both at this place- they will charge you on your credit card for the full stay and charge you points for your stary, over 60,000 points - so you will pay twice which will come to close to $600 a night! My husband is a Doctor and I am an Architect-we are professionals and seasoned travelers.I have traveled the world paying for nights stays and also using points and had actually used our points for 2 other nights stays at other Hyatt affiliated properties in Portugal during our 12 day trip- with not one issue. My husband and I have traveled the world staying at less expensive places than this that made you feel more comfortable and more special.I had found Quinta da Comporta on our Hyatt membership site and decide to go all out and use 60,000 points for the last two nights of our trip to Portugal(which is astronomical in the Hyatt point world and also Hyatt pays them for our stay.).The check in to Quinta da Comporta was the same as other locations where we used points and we verified at checked in that our stay was confirmed using our point-even had the email confirmation to prove it. This resort is in the middle of dessert and is very isolated, actually in the middle of rice fields. When you check in they make park your car in an underground garage which is about 1/2 of mile away from your actual room and then take you by golf cart to your room. There is only a beach like sand walkway and rolling hills from your room to the reservation building - it is not an easy walk and defiantly not handicap accessible. It was interesting at check in but we were game for a resort that would have cost us almost $300 a night if we had not used our points, I would have never stayed here otherwise. Since you are isolated you have no choice but to eat every meal in their one restaurant.Staff and food at the restaurant were very nice (overpriced for what you get but nice) However check out was another story. We were not presented a bill prior to check out. The day before we were to leave, we ask the front reservation for assistance with our luggage because we were catching our flight home in the morning and they said they would be at our room with the golf cart by 7am to help us with our luggage. Again because there are no concrete walkways only deep sand that luggage sinks into. However 7am came and 7:15, we even called the front reservation but no answer, so we decided we had to drag our luggage 1/2 mile to the reservation building so that we would not miss our international flight home. It took us about 25 min to drag our heavy suitcases through the sand (my new suitcase wheels are ruined) almost 1/2 mile to the front reservation building, there were two very young people running reservations when we came in sweating. And they never even said sorry about forgetting to come get you and your luggage! Understand no one staying at this place is close to the reservation building so how did they think we got there?? The guy asked my husband if he need help putting the luggage in our rental car and he said yes- and the guy rolled our luggage 5 feet and left my husband to roll it the rest of the way and lift them into our car. They said they would have breakfast for us to take with us and we were handed two brown bags each with one orange and one orange juice in them-not even a napkin. They promised the additional $600 we were wrongly charged would be refunded to our cc but this has not happened and they are not responding to any of the many emails we have sent. This is the first hotel with Hyatt that I have ever felt like I was seriously ripped off-a bait and switch! I found and booked Quinta da Comporta on the Hyatt site and in the end they said we don't accept Hyatt points-which according to Hyatt, they do! We were so excited to be staying here the end of this amazing trip and honestly our entire trip was amazing EXCEPT for...

Please PLEASE save your money. this hotel is a complete scam and not up to 5-star standards. i have never in my life left a review before but feel the need to warn people that this is insanely overpriced and not what it claims to be. we don’t go on these kinds of trips very often, saved to come here, and were totally let down :(.||it claims to be a “wellness” boutique hotel but you don’t receive ANY wellness benefits and it’s genuinely a daycare. there were more guests under 10 years old than over… not an exaggeration||they completely cater this place to children. the spa (even though online it says explicitly that it is for guests 16+) is practically a public pool because children are in there jumping and playing. you will be waiting for a turn in the sauna behind a 6 year old playing in it (no seriously). they literally have a foosball table by the restaurant bathrooms to keep children entertained, the outdoor “famous infinity pool” literally has a children’s end (which cmon it’s not regulated that way)…||||they don’t say this but it is entirely for wealthy families and they don’t care about accommodating anybody else||||we let them know we were really surprised about the children being allowed in the spa and they essentially said that it’s a “family hotel” and the kids need somewhere to be when the outdoor pool is cold.||||let me know where it says that on their website despite marketing themselves as a boutique WELLNESS hotel.||||you also receive 0 benefits - morning yoga is 20 euros pp (i’ve NEVER seen that even at lesser starred hotels let alone 5 star) and since the spa is a water park, where is the wellness? in the 200 euro massage i need to pay for in addition? everything is paid for, the bikes, the classes, (don’t even get me started on the food, but other reviews have covered this lol)||||our room was also completely falling apart, i’ll attach some photos below but both our patio chairs were broken with screws poking out, lamps detaching from walls, etc.||||the staff here are really wonderful and none of this is their fault at all. our service from the receptionists, hospitality workers, restaurant workers, etc. was all great - it’s the managers and owners. they didn’t listen to our concerns and are fraudulently marketing this place. i anticipate that its vision was to compete with sublime and be a natural wellness hotel, but they realized they make way more money being an elite family playpen. make this explicit or adequately compensate unhappy guests.||||when we let them know we were having trouble with our stay, she didn’t offer us anything besides the opportunity to leave early and not be charged for the last night. she genuinely ushered us out the door and asked us twice when we were leaving even after we said we were leaving within the hour - we weren’t even allowed to sit in the lounge while we waited for our car to be ready, she was literally standing in the doorway||||i know it probably sounds like we karen-ed out but i promise we just asked questions and let them know we felt that this wasn’t what we had paid for. if they’d heard us out and threw in a free massage or a free meal or truly a note on the bed we probably wouldn’t have felt so scammed and genuinely just sad :(. my boyfriend and i have been looking forward to a luxe trip and saved for 3 years. we’ve never had an experience like...

it claims to be a “wellness” boutique hotel but you don’t receive ANY wellness benefits and it’s genuinely a daycare. there were more guests under 10 years old than over… not an exaggeration

they completely cater this place to children. the spa (even though online it says explicitly that it is for guests 16+) is practically a public pool because children are in there jumping and playing. you will be waiting for a turn in the sauna behind a 6 year old playing in it (no seriously). they literally have a foosball table by the restaurant bathrooms to keep children entertained, the outdoor “famous infinity pool” literally has a children’s end (which cmon it’s not regulated that way)… they don’t say this but it is entirely for wealthy families and they don’t care about accommodating anybody else

We spent a week here with our family and had a wonderful time overall. Starting with the positives, the property is beautifully situated among the rice fields of Carvalhal. The grounds are well maintained and the property is large enough and with plenty of amenities to feel like you don't need to leave during your stay. Most of the staff are very friendly and helpful, with your comfort as their top priority. The included breakfast is well-organized and very tasty, with all the options you would want and expect. Overall, the resort is very child friendly with a nice playground, child seats for the bike rentals, beach toys, high chairs, nice cribs and even baby bathtubs upon request! We stayed in a villa, so we had a private pool, but there are two other pools open to everyone, a yoga studio, beach volleyball courts, spa and a fairly well equipped gym. There are plenty of activities nearby including horseback riding, kayaking, biking and trips to the beach. The resort is in the heart of Carvahal, which has several well-reviewed shops and restaurants. Comporta is a short drive away with more dining options. The biggest downside during our stay was the lunch/dinner menu at the restaurant. The food for the most part was tasty, but the prices are exorbitant for the quality and portion sizes of the menu items. The menu is not extensive, so some variety during the week would have been nice. The spa is nice, but the layout and management seems like a bit of an afterthought. We had brought our kids to swim at the pool several times, and on the third day we were rudely told that children are only welcome 08:00-10:00 and from 14:00-16:00 (first time this was ever mentioned, and we even arrived during one of the permitted windows). The gym is crammed in the attic of the building and anyone doing an intense workout is sure to interrupt a tranquil massage session. The villa itself was overall beautiful but we had a handful of maintenance/usability issues with ours. The offseason pricing is worth staying here for, but I wouldn't pay the high-season prices. Lastly, for the price you are paying the yoga should be included, and the bike rentals and e-bike rentals should be free beyond 2hrs/1hr respectively.

We're used to luxury hotels and Quinta do Comporta is not at all to the level, both in terms of service and the Hotel itself. The reception staff are poorly trained, and most of them don't speak English. What you request for the room arrives about 40 minutes later or never at all. For exemple: we requested a high chair to feed our child, and despite our reminders, it arrived 40 minutes later. We have also requested milk for our morning coffee, but none arrived in our room at all. Room service is a disaster. We ordered five dishes, and only four arrived almost cold in cardboard boxes. This is not what you'd expect from such an expensive hotel. As for the place, it's completely outdated. I'm including photos to illustrate my point. The main interior terrace is completely broken. The children's playground is not at all inviting. As for the rooms, they are small and very poorly insolated. We could hear our neighbors talking and even their bathroom breaks. The terraces are right next to our neighbor's, which provides no privacy and makes them almost unusable. For €900, we sleep better at home! Overall, the hotel needs renovation. To compound the experience, a fire alarm went on at 7:30 a.m. and woke the entire establishment. We are very desappointed ! To offset our big disappointment, there are still a few positive points: - The restaurant is very good and the staff is friendly - The housekeepers do their job well My advice: - Train your staff; the service should be on another level - Soundproof the rooms and make rénovation - Put cartons of milk in the rooms - Change the breakfast a little. Not always the same products every morning -beautiful surrondings

Great stay all in all at Quinta da Comporta. Some areas that stood out: Room - hairdryer lacked the nozzle and the quality/brand could be improved. Otherwise, comfortable bed and pillows, and beautiful views of the rice fields. Restaurant - kind waiters but the dinner service was slow. Waiter was very accommodating to my dietary requirements. Breakfast was delicious. Pool Bar - great pool enabling to swim many long lengths, love that there is a dedicated family area, so couples with no kids can still enjoy quiet time. Pool bar menu was good, but the only downside was the litter of kittens in the pool area that came close to guests, particularly those eating and also wondered around the bar. Usually this wouldn’t cross my mind, but being pregnant makes me extra concerned of cats near food. Morning Pilates was a great way to start the day! Spa - great massage by Leandro, and we enjoyed the inside pool. All in all a lovely and relaxing stay.
