The rooms are a good size and well equipped, breakfast was good and the meal we had was good too. The building itself is impressive and the location is good for Spain, though there is little to do in the local town. The hotel itself is on the tired side and could do with some refurbishment, but its hard to see where the market is for a hotel of this side so I don't know where they would get the money from! Staff service was patchy, the reception staff were good, but trying to get a drink at the bar could be difficult. One night we returned to the hotel about 10pm, despite there being multiple guest in the bar area no one had a drink nor was there any service on offer, we waited at the bar for about 10 minutes with another guest who was waiting to be served, then went to reception to find out what was happening only to find no one there either...so we gave up! All in: A large hotel with good facilities, but which is looking a little tired and could do with staffing the bars a bit better!

This is classified has a 4 star hotel, but I believe at least one of the stars has lost its shine long ago.... There some faults in the cleanliness of our rooms. Also the breakfast display its not protected from the flies and the cleanliness of some glasses is very bad. The location is good and this could be a great hotel, but it's not.

Customer service could do with some improvement. For the price you pay which is premium. I understand it's secluded. Well maintained garden and building. Outside areas by the bars could do with some improvement. Best thing about it was the fox which stayed there all night. Food was ok for the price. But I wouldn't shout about

The place itself was a reminder that life can exist where we feel it is absent, hence an oasis. On the extremities of the SPA town of Monfortinho, region of Beira Baixa - close to the Spanish border - this small town has seen much better days since the pandemic. We cycled in to town during the week, and there was a visible reminder of how hard-hit this area had been. Caravan septic discharges not working, cycle maintenance stations close and neglected. 'For sale' signs up in many homes and businesses. I would imagine this place would have been buzzing back in 2018/19. Several of the hotels were closed here and we were fortunate to come across this one with some signs of life... The setting is a glorious Eden, with well maintained mature gardens. This is a dry region so hats off to whoever created this special place. The large multi-shaped pool is idyllic complete with an infinity section where water cascades to a catchment that cycles it around. It's very peaceful to sit here and swim and there are adequate sun-shades and a pool snack bar to cater to your whims. Staff were friendly though they haven't been trained adequately. Internet is average here as there is no high-speed, so if you want to stream a film then it's hardly adequate in the rooms. The breakfast was the most complete on our trip, first class and nothing lacking : fresh juices; baked breads/sweets; cereals; cooked eggs; an array of meats; excellent coffee, and all in buffet presentation with plenty of space to sit in or outside and overlook the gardens and listen to the birds and take in the serenity. The bed is very firm and not comfortable. The room is large enough and there is a full bath in you want to relax. They advertise bikes tours. There are only two cycles for a large hotel, so make sure you let them know prior to arriving if you want to use them. Overall, it's a wonderful relaxing location if you want to stay to wind down and make use of the spa (massage etc) close by. The pool at the spa is closed during these times. The food is good enough for meals. The breakfast is so abundant that you can make it last ! We miss the view and poolside area. Its impression and memory is...

For decades, my Portuguese wife and her family used to go here every year. I visited about 20 years ago and loved it, too. We went back to have a look. In 2025, it is as charming as ever. The swimming pools in that setting are stunning and it is so private. The architecture of the hotel, especially the common areas and the artwork and sculptures are in a very classy 1930s style with some modern twists. It's a very social place with families quietly enjoying themselves poolside or playing dominos or table tennis in the commons and bar area with lots of nice sofas and tables. I can't really speak to the food as we had other plans made. The rooms could use a little updating but they are fine. Unfortunately, I think the thermal spa that was adjoined to it has closed permanently, as have all the facilities in Monfortinho bar the hotel. There is no corner shop. There is no pharmacy etc. I do hope the local council try to bring back Monfortinho. It is a special place and there are fabulous gems to see within a short drive, like the world-famous village of Monsanto and much nearer,...
