Just returned home from a long weekend away to Boavista Golf and Spa resort. A great trip all round, definitely somewhere to consider for your next golf holiday.||The resort itself is really quite big, with a number of villas and apartments lining the streets of the resort. We stayed in the Bela Colina townhouses which are located at the top of the resort. The apartments are very clean and modern, very well equipped with everything you could possibly need during your stay, including cooking and washing up facilities. They are located very close to the resort's Bistro which serves good quality, familiar food all day and night at reasonable prices. Breakfast can also be taken there at a cost also. When you're not golfing there are plenty of things to do, including: Indoor pool & spa, Tennis, Paddle and a number of outdoor swimming pools. Lagos town is also located 10 minutes away, Ubers are extremely cheap at around 4-5 Euros.||The golf course meanders it's way in and out of the resort with the 1st tee located a 10 minute walk away from the Bela Colina townhouses, I believe there was a shuttle bus service but we didn't choose to use this as we enjoyed the walk to the course. The golf course itself is very user friendly with multiple tee options available to all abilities. Good variety of holes presented during the round with a good mixture of both easy and difficult holes. I must say, the condition of the course was a tad underwhelming as there were multiple sections of GUR situated around the course just making it a tad untidy. Aside from that little criticism, we enjoyed the layout and the general condition was average considering the volume of traffic it must see. Buggies are recommended as it is quite the walk, big distances between holes and during the summer months I can imagine it being very hot (35 Euro per buggy). After each round we opted for food and drinks in the clubhouse which was also very reasonably priced and a good selection for all.||I don't want to finish this review on a negative, but I feel it's worth mentioning that the service we received from the staff around the resort was not good in all honesty. On a number of occasions we experienced quite blunt/rude staff. It's not something I like to bring up but it really was quite off-putting at times. I would've rated this review 4/5 stars otherwise. Just something to bear in mind.||Overall, I would recommend this resort to other parties looking at their next golf holiday. Good value for money, and a great location. Improve your customer service and you have a really good...

The most incredible thing happened to me today. Having paid over €2000 per year for 6 or 7 years to effectively play golf once or twice a week I would under most circumstances be classed as a good customer.
Just recently the Boavista management took a decision (presumably to cut costs) to start opening the catering facilities one and a half hours later that they have done previously. This means our group that takes early 7.30 am tees can no longer get a cup of coffee or sandwich or even buy water etc before we disappear around the course for 4 hours ,. neither are we served with a drinks buggy (another service that has been withdrawn on Mondays) or benefit from a halfway house. Because of the unusual design of the course you do not return to the clubhouse until you play the 18th. Having circumnavigated the course avoiding water filled bunkers and puddles.
Having seen they were running glossy adverts for staff I decided to comment about the situation , this was the post.
"Can you find somebody to serve us members a cup of coffee before our round at 7.15 am? We pay for annual membership but you have withdrawn the morning service. Paying €2000 plus a year for membership we should not be expected to meet in the carpark and bring our own refreshments."
I very quickly received a reply from their "Director of Golf" requesting a quick meeting. Naturally I was impressed at the quick response and arranged to meet him, i expected to discuss the issues and maybe get a solution to what is obvious to anyone, a failure of their service.
I met a guy called Hugo and was asked to follow him to the top floor office where he promptly called for a witness to be present. The arrogance and lack of business acumen of this guy was breathtaking. He refused to discuss the service delivery problems but proceeded to berate me for airing my views on a public forum. It was like being called to the headmasters office.
I was not prepared to accept his arrogance so i have walked away from the establishment never to set foot there again. Well not until they find themselves someone qualified to live up to the man's...
Read moreThe place was beautiful and super clean. The cleaning staff phenomenal for the unit, they left nothing undone.
The grounds were immaculate, watered and maintained all the time.
The bistro was close and the prices were reasonable. More importantly the food was very good. The bistro burger and their pizzas were excellent. It was probably the best burger I have had since COVID. The burger patty was super juicy and a nice pink inside. The caramel onions were just perfect for the burger and the fries were light and crisp.
The main pool out front was nice, clean and always a good temperature.
The only issues we had was the pool was not supervised so people were bringing glass on the deck, kicking soccer balls into the pool and diving, all clearly marked not allowed. The other issue was they were without soap in the changing rooms for the entire week. People would jar open the dispensers in hopes the crew would refill it, but not one time. Unfortunate for such a nice place.
One final issue, Delta coffee. Our entire trip in Portugal and abroad had Nespresso coffee machines in the rooms. They are available everywhere and you can make an espresso or if you want, a full cup. Looks like Delta did some sponsorship so I had to buy new capsules for a machine only able to make a single shot espresso, including the cup to fit underneath. I drink espresso but the others in my party do not so we are making and then pouring and adding water from a kettle. The capsule are also more expensive and personally not as good as the...
