I've been traveling for 8 months already on this current trip and have also stayed at many other hotels and hostels while traveling the world in the past years, however I have never felt so unwelcome and been treated so badly as we did at Ocean View. Firstly when we arrived after 24 hrs of traveling we were made to feel unwelcome as we arrived at 1pm and check in wasn't until 3pm and basically got yelled at at the gate. I understand we were early, however we were told we could drop our bags and then were to leave the property (although the place was completely empty with not a person In site and a pool and lounge we could have relaxed by) and we even told them it was our 5 year anniversary as it was thinking that might sway them. That was okay but after 1 half hours of walking around in the sun and heat as it was soooo hot we decided we'd go back at 2.30pm expecting they wouldn't mind us relaxing by the pool or in the shade as we were both so exhausted. So we walked out the back and we got yelled at saying they were cleaning although there wasn't a cleaner out there and we had to wait outside the property. I tried to persuade her but that made the female owner even angrier. I was already pretty upset at this stage with the way they spoke to us and being tired didn't help. Then we waited until 3pm, walked inside and after looking online we were told that they couldn't find our booking- although the money had been taken from our account. After 1 hour of the receptionist speaking to the male owner and trying to figure it out we were told he'd cancelled it because my partner sent an email to him saying we may not make it on time and if so would we still have to pay. He said we'd have to pay the whole amount. So my partner called them and confirmed with the receptionist that we would come and she even told us while we were there that she remembers speaking to him and said that she never cancelled the room. However the owner who was clearly trying to rip us off cancelled the room without even confirming it with us and sold the room again and took all the money from our account the previous day and we waited until 4pm (on a Friday) after traveling for 24hrs to be told that our booking had been cancelled- however the money had still been charged to our credit card. And to make it worse, after he told us we then got an email from bookings.com after we left Ocean View and checked into a new hotel to cancel our booking (clearly trying to rip us off and something dodgy went down) The owner wouldn't talk to us, to be fair the lady at reception was nice. But it was completely disappointing and as Lagos was completely booked out we ended up having to pay £300 for Friday and Saturday night (which was over double the amount of ocean view) to have a private room elsewhere as we wanted privacy on our anniversary and didn't want to share a dorm room... And that was the cheapest we could find and we're on a tight budget after traveling for 8 months. Not a nice way to spend our anniversary and after traveling for 24hours from Austria to get treated that way. If they had have even spoken to us when we first arrived they would have realised instead of telling us we weren't allowed on the propert until 3pm they would have realised the owner had cancelled our booking. We were happy to leave as the owners were so rude to us, however not to pay double the amount elsewhere and wait around for hours not being...

Overall we were disappointed with the customer service provided by the staff of Ocean Views. Due to travel delays we were unable to check in before reception closed at 10PM. We discussed with staff whether there was a lock box to leave us keys and to check in formally the next morning. Since they had charged a deposit and had credit card details on file.

Ocean Views said this was not possible and attempted to process the full payment without warning, despite Ocean Views Bed and Breakfast policy of paying at check in. The transaction failed and Ocean Views immediately cancelled our four night booking.

When attempting to resolve this issue with a member of staff over the phone the man we dealt with was rude, blunt and dismissive. We ended up having to book alternative accommodation for the first night and checked into Oceans Views a day late. When we arrived there was a lock box at the entrance.

During our stay the other staff we dealt with were pleasant. The facilities and outdoor pool were lovely and well maintained and...

It’s lovely to have Oscar the parrot around as he is very intelligent, communicates and makes funny sounds - which could contribute to a small paradise-like atmosphere especially in the mornings. Unfortunately, once you have seen Oscar in his small cage it makes you feel very sad. His cage is way too small, he has only one perch to sit on, no toys, no fresh fruit or veggies, no fresh leaves or branches to nibble on. We stayed one week and not once his cage was cleaned and he did not even get fresh water (which was all green and muddy). The parrot is alone in a room and has nothing to do. He looks very unhealthy (look at his feathers). All in all, Oscar would be a great value for the house and the tourists, as he is funny and loves to interact - but his current conditions makes it so sad to watch him 😔 I hope the owner will improve his situation and care more about him (instead of only relocate Oscar into another room where he cannot be...

The accommodation was good but I'm leaving a 1 star review because of the condition of the African Grey Parrot named Oscar. Oscar is kept in a small cage which is filthy and he appears in terrible condition. I spoke with the management about my concerns and they told me that he is well looked after. I don't believe this is the case by looking at the state of him and his cage. Oscar has broken, dirty, frayed feathers. The food and water bowel was filthy... the photos speak for themselves. SHAME ON THE OWNERS for keeping a bird in this condition!

Great holiday apartment absolute luxury certainly if your not looking for entertainment for children or whatever and like going self catering or room only this is the best value holiday I've been on. Under 5 euros the old town or the beach in an uber and the same back makes hiring a car pointless if your planning on staying quite local, with a washing machine in balcony cupboard this is the first time I've came back with 90% of my clothes already washed, I'd imagine I'd be back here again at somepoint.
