Arriving we got the wrong room, although we had spent some time discussing the different rooms. When we found out, we didn't want to repack everything to change. Maybe we should have. |The door to the hall where our room was had a sign, of many signs, to be quiet in the hall. Reason for that is that you can hear EVERYTHING happening in the hall. Cleaning ladies were the most noisy. |Breakfast is sad, there is so much nice food on Pico, but only one cheese was present, and in a small amount, so late breakfast meant no local cheese. |Coffee was horrible, if you ask they could actually make a decent espresso, but you had to ask and know it was possible. |One sign said there was a bar, a bigger sign said you should prepay the bar. We think it was in the breakfast room, but when breakfast was over, the door was closed, so we didn't find it. |Pool area is sad as well, small pool, quite cold and sad surroundings. |They also have a jacuzzi, but prepay of course and booking one day in advance and the prepay would only give you a certain time, don't know of it is 5 minutes or 2 hours, it didn't say. Needless to say it was not used! |All in all, people are not very helpful nor smiling, which is quite opposite to the rest of the inhabitants we met at our 4 nights. It seems as if they have been forced to make a hotel or B&B. Not a lot of enthusiasm, but a lot of not possible signs on the property. Not coming back here, coming back to Pico absolutely, but not spending...
Read moreEnglish: I stayed at AL-NovaVista for 3 nights, and have only good things to say about it. The gentleman who was at the front desk to check us in was very friendly and helpful. We were assigned apartment 1, and we're shown to it without delay. Everything in the room was very clean and in good order. The view to the ocean and the next island (Faial) was beautiful out the front door and the mountain was visible from the back door. Breakfast was included with the room, and had a variety of options, to include pancakes/waffles, cheese, a small selection of meats, and eggs. Local breads were also available along with juice and yogurt I would recommend this location to anyone looking for lodging on the island of Pico!
Read moreThis hotel was a backup plan from the holiday agency, since there were no other free places on the island on our time there. What a bad choice! The only nice thing about this place is the view from the terrace, overseeing Fajal Island and the Vineyards. Otherwise, the bed mattress is awful, the pillows are one of the worst I had in a long time, the rooms are small, no view, if you are in the main building, maybe you have a balcony, but the chances are low, since there are only a few rooms with balconies. Great recipe for a bunker Fieber. There is never someone at the reception. The only staff members we saw on our days there, were only 2 young girls, who were doing everything there, cleaning, taking care of the breakfast, check in, check out and so on. There should be given a medal to those two hard working girls. Breakfast was ok-isch. Coffee as almost everywhere on the Azoren islands was from the Maschine, with powder. AC was working, had always hot running water. Towels were changed every day. Emptying the Garbage bins and room cleaning happened only once in our 4 days of stay. There was a swimming pool but the water looked kinda funny and had a very strong chlorine smell. Therefore didn’t went in. The parking was big enough and without extra costs. Would be nice to have a small fridge in the bedroom, and if not possible, then at least a minibar on the Theras to have a nice drink while...
