We had a wonderful stay at PocinhoBay. Jose and Luisa, the owners, have arranged the place beautifully and turned it into a truly peaceful haven. We stayed in a villa which felt just like home. The only thing missing were a few toiletries which would have come handy. Breakfast was plentiful and good, and since we had to go to Mount Pico very early on our first day, Luisa brought inside the villa a picnic basket for our breakfast the night before, which was a nice attention. Jose and Luisa also booked our whale-watching tour with a great organization called Espaco Talassa (which I recommend), as well as made a restaurant reservation for us. They also provided good recommendations on other places to go to for lunch or dinner. There's a swimming pool, and access to a big natural seawater pool just in front of the hotel. Don't expect a sandy beach - it's rocky but you can borrow a thin mattress from the hotel and enjoy the sun on one of the surrounding platforms (one of which has fixed umbrellas to protect you from the sun), while watching kids jump in the water and lie directly on the main platform, like in a European 1960s movie. It's important to note this is NOT a standard luxury hotel, so don't expect the service you would get in a big resort. Nevertheless, the price tag is rather high, but for a good reason: it's a uniquely charming hotel in a...

This place is an absolute MUST stay!!!

Pocinhobay is one of the most special places that I’ve ever stayed. My husband and I stayed there for three nights during our honeymoon trip to the Azores. It was stunning, and so peaceful.

Luisa, the homeowner, was there to receive us upon check-in. She gave us a tour of the property, and was available throughout our stay for any questions or needs.

We stayed in their new one bedroom villa, which was absolutely stunning. We had a patio that wrapped around the entire place, a private pool, and a beautiful view of Pocinhobay and the ocean. The Villa was fully stocked with all amenities, contemporary finishes, organic soaps, and incredible art from Luisa’s travels.

We had a full, fresh, local breakfast in one of the common areas every morning, surrounded by photographs and art from all over the world.

The property is so peaceful to meander through. It is private and quiet. It feels like the perfect balance between a historic glimpse of Pico and a contemporary approach to design.

Definitely recommend renting a car, as the only other way to get around is really taxis. The resort is not really in walking distance to very much, but it is within 15-20 min driving distance to lots of restaurants and points of interest, as well as the airport.

Bottom line…stay here! We cannot wait to...

You feel you’re inside a postcard when you stay at Pocinho Bay. ||We stayed here for 3 nights while visiting the island with the goal of climbing Pico.|The location is absolutely unique, right by the water, near a natural pool, and with the most amazing views of Faial - the island opposite Pico. It is also located in an area that is protected and considered a world landmark - the pico vineyards, which are planted in between blocks of lava rocks and very very close to the sea. |In the evening you can hear all the sea birds singing which is also a unique experience.|The hotel is small and run by a super friendly and charming couple who will welcome you exceptionally well. Luisa was extremely helpful giving us tips of where to go for dinner or visit and about our hike to climb pico. |The decoration is also very unique, with artefacts and photos from all over the world, collected by the owners themselves.|The service is friendly and efficient. Anabela always available to help. |Breakfast was excellent. The highlights for me were the eggs cooked on demand, the coffee, the homemade cake, the local cheese and the fruit salad.|Overall our experience was excellent and we plant to be back when we...

Wonderful high-end property featuring villas and cottages using traditional local sourced marerials with decorations inspired by the owners travels. Our volcanic bathroom stones felt like a spa setting, a lot of love and thought has gone into creating a traditional sanctuary experience for guests, in a volcanic bay. If Mt Pico is hidden by clouds, there is another mountain directly in view. Within the resort is their own protected vineyards that you will see within the area but here they are within a valley, perfrct for photographs. Towards the beach to the right outside of the property, a new snack bar has opened for the summer season with local and international foods and great Limoncello Spritz'. We prebooked all our restaurant and airport transfer with OnTravel DMC as we don't drive and taxis are in high demand on Pico Island. Try the wine from owners vineyards, we saw that it was available on restaurant menus too.

Pocinho Bay was breathtaking. From the views to the impeccable vibes of the villa and common areas. We enjoyed the villa + private pool for our honeymoon and it was perfection. Our deck and pool faced Faial Island and we had a view of the sunset each night. José and Luisa were incredible hosts and made themselves readily available and present on the property. They helped us arrange massages on the property as well the day after we hiked Pico Mountain, which was perfect. The staff of Pocinho Bay are outstanding - their hospitality was something to be extremely proud of. Be sure to take a walk through the Pocinho Bay vineyards and try their wine. It is divine! Cannot recommend enough. We’re already planning our return.
