My family and I use hotels a lot as we live in the Middle East - we travel frequently. Even during covid we have managed to have hotel breaks and we were fortunate to be able to travel this summer. We stayed in Lisbon and Coimbra amongst other places. Things can go wrong but it’s how the hotel deal with the matter that counts. This hotel should be avoided. When we arrived we were tired and wanted a meal. There were no restaurant facilities - which a 3* hotel should have. There were no facilities in the room for tea coffee or snacks at all. We were advised to go to the garage for food. The hotel is not in the centre of town it’s about a km. We walked to the town for dinner. Then realized we would have to spend all day walking back and forth into the town to get any food. We had booked for 3 nights (into a hotel or so we thought) and it had cost almost 300 euros…so a hotel is what we expected. After one night we decided to leave and asked for a refund for the other two nights. I feel as if this is misrepresenting itself as a hotel - also we did not have a car and needed the hotel facilities on site for our stay. The first three requests were ignored. There was no response from the property owners at all. We contacted the booking agent. Again no response. Two months later they said no refund - the hotel does not offer a meal plan. We hadn’t requested a meal plan. We wanted hotel facilities. We are still trying to get a refund for the two days that we were unable to remain in the hotel. Book this hotel with caution as a B and B may be better. Or go to the new hotel in town which is beautiful - not much more expensive and has a wonderful customer service. It’s the Hotel Parque. We relocated there and after going back to Lisbon I used the Parque hotel again as a base. They treated me like a returning friend and were wonderful. I will stay at this hotel for all future visits when friends abd family come. It...
Read moreWe were booked in this hotel for one night whilst on a business trip. Sadly our flight was delayed then problems with the car and the fact that our sat nav would not work meant we did not arrive until the early hours of the morning. We attempted to phone ahead to let them know of our delay, but could not get through.||When we eventually arrived the whole place was in darkness, we tried ringing the doorbell several times and rattled the door to try and attract attention, but to know avail, so we ended up sleeping in the car. When the hotel finally opened at about 8am we were given a room that was so cold it had been warmer in the car, despite putting the heating on full when we got into the room the temperature did not rise more than a degree or so.||The lady on reception was very apologetic about us being locked out and not hearing the bell but still charged us the full rate.||If we had not needed to sleep for a couple of hours in relative comfort or used the bathroom facilities, (not that we used the shower as it was far too cold)we would have just given up on the whole thing.||This is possibly one of the largest hotels in the town not some little B&B so you would have expected a 24...
Read moreThe staff is very polite and our room is juge, taking the whole end of the hotel. We have a 30' private veranda with several chairs and a table. The hotel is high on a hill overlooking Miranda do Corvo with its twinkling lights in the evening. ||There is no restaurant available but one of the staff will take you near the square where you can have dinner after 7pm or snacks before. There is breakfast until in the hotel 10m weekdays and 11 on Sundays.||The hotel is clean and charming but could stand upgrading with a hairdryer, coffee machine, fridge, etc. as other hotels do.||The view from this room (with 4 windows, 1 on each end, 2 in the middle and a door to the veranda) is beautiful as you look over the village in the valley, especially at twilight and of a misty morning as the fog lifts from the mountains. ||It is a 5 minute walk to the square (passing a number one restaurant among reviewers along the way) with a lovely park and shallow river. The park lined with plane trees, and wysteria lined, long pergolas and a fountain ot each end.||Our stay will have been for 2 weeks (plus)...
