Casa Spa d'Alma — Hotel in Monchique

We had the pleasure of staying here for 6 nights and could have stayed a lot longer. Without any doubt this is the best B&B we have ever stayed at in fact this is much more than a Bed and Breakfast. You have your own large room with your own full bathroom and your own entrance with heating and air conditioning overlooking a beautiful garden. You also have access to the main room which has comfortable seating, fire place, tv, coffee and tea. The internet worked perfectly and we were able to stay in contact with back home sending pictures of our Fantastic hikes in the surrounding area. They also have a good sized pool, hot tub and use of the outdoor kitchen and fridge. Breakfast which is included is excellent with freshly squeezed orange juice, fruit, bread, home made jams, cheese, sliced meat, home made granola, yoghurt, plus eggs and or pancakes, pastries, etc. A Great way to start off your day. Since there are only 4 rooms you should book early or you may be disappointed. The owners, Theo and Manuela are the real Gems here, speaking at least 5 languages between them including Portuguese, Spanish, English, Dutch, German and I think a 6th is French, but there could be more. They will provide you with the maps of any hiking that you want to do including what to watch out for and what you will see, degree of difficulty, and will make suggestions and recommendations that includes a weather update and restaurant recommendations. They have a incredible amount of knowledge of the area and have done most, if not all of the hikes in the greater area. I would highly recommend staying here, you will not be disappointed. Casa Spa d'Alma is a very good boutique hotel in a village at the mountains. Theo and Manuela are great hosts and are very helpful. They make the stay a better one. They speak perfect English so no communication problems. ||||The rooms are beautifully decorated and spacey. Our room was the one at the end and the bathroom was not at the same beauty standard with the room. I would expect it to be better. But i guess this is only in that room, if you stay in the rooms near the main building, they might have better bathrooms. The best thing about that room is that you have privacy, no noise, no disturbance at all. You also have a private parking space in front of the room so you do not need to carry any bags for any distances. ||||The garden is very beautiful and good to spent time in nature, tranquil and lovely. ||||The breakfast is very tasty, many things are freshly made and delicious. There is always tea/coffee in the main hall. Great for hot drinks lovers and very generous of the hosts! ||||The location is good for staying in one place and visiting whole Algarve region -of course if you travel by car and feel comfortable to drive 30-45 mins to reach the hotel from the beaches in different towns. We spent 4 days and could visit most of the region, at least all of the most famous and wonderful beaches and landscapes.|| ||The most important problem is that Wi-fi is not available in the rooms. Also the mobile phones cannot find network (at least in our room) so internet becomes even a more crucial tool to be able to communicate. You need to go to the main hall to connect which is not...

Just loved our stay two night stay here, and would love to have stayed longer. Our room was light and comfortable, with a nice bathroom. The gardens were so beautiful, with various sitting areas, either in the shade, or in the sun, with views of the hills all around - and all private as there are only 4 rooms: beauty and peace. I enjoyed the pool to cool off, and the jacuzzi in the evening. It was the outdoor area that had attracted me and I was so pleased that it was indeed lovely. ||||Breakfasts were delicious with home made banana pancakes, home made muesli, fresh fruit, (some from the garden) and much more. I appreciated the facility to make teas and coffees throughout the day (with fresh leaf lemon verbena from the trees as well). Outdoor self catering kitchen facilities were available, but we chose to eat at a couple of the many local restaurants. Casa Spa d'Alma is ideally appointed to enjoy the beauty of nature, but with access to the beaches and towns if one wants. ||||The owners, Manuela and Theo, are a lovely couple and wonderful hosts, and enhanced our stay with their warmth and hospitality. I would have liked to have gone walking in the hills surrounding the property - another time - I would like to return - the best...
