What a stunningly beautiful property surrounded by nature and animals. The country house is gracious in size and amenities: crystal clear pool, ping pong, billiards, walking trails, lake views and three very sweet well behaved dogs as well as cats, kittens, ducklings, chickens and a goat. Our room was very comfortable, clean and well appointed. The staff, Junior, Victoria and Manuela took such good care of us. We felt like we were staying at a friend’s country estate with a private chef and butler attending to our every need. Our meals were delicious and abundant. Every evening after dinner we laid on the warm stone and stretched while the sky began its fabulous star show! I honestly cannot praise this property enough, as our four night stay here was truly magical! You must visit Pepe Aroma’s for a fabulous informative cork forest tour and prickly pear farming venue which included an olive oil tasting and yummy authentic lunch. We also booked a sunset cruise on Lake Alqueva our last evening and it was the perfect ending to a truly memorable visit to Alentejo. Our stay and activities were booked through Splendid Portugal and I will ALWAYS utilize their agency for our...
Read moreIf you travel to Alentejo and look for a great place, this is clearly one of the few good choice! The settings are marvelous (but rough road to get there), swimming pool is great (even if soon needing a refurbishment), good food (even if called snacks to pre order and not cheap), little walks in the domain are really worth it, and overall very nice hotel! However, many items need soon refurbishment to justify the high price and on the same note small details like emptying common trash and cleaning place's dog passage, etc would be appreciated. When we were there the place was run behind the scenes by a local lady doing everything including cleaning, cooking, etc but the person in charge was a young ackward lady from Macau with zero knowledge of the surroundings, evidently no experience of hospitality (greeting guests would be nice!!), service (bringing desert while still eating!!) and overall an odd impression lacking any character for this "family-run" place. We hope this is just temporary because with normal hosts the experience would be very...

Monte da Estrela is truly a slice of paradise on earth. Its isolated location makes you feel wonderfully far away from the rest of the world — in the best possible way. The silence, the expansive landscapes, and the breathtaking night sky create a magical, almost surreal atmosphere.
The restaurant is a highlight: the food is delicious and thoughtfully prepared, and the setting is both intimate and unique. Walking around the estate with the friendly resident dogs adds a special charm to the experience. There are also several scenic hiking routes of over 5km that aren’t listed anywhere but are well worth exploring.
Above all, the staff stand out — incredibly warm, welcoming, and service-minded, they make you feel completely at home. A perfect retreat for anyone seeking peace, nature, and genuine...
