HOTEL URGEIRIÇA — Hotel in Nelas

We booked for 5 nights. Were told it was a double bedded room. It had a 3/4 bed with broken springs with chipboard nailed in place to replace the correct springing. There was only one chair for both of us to sit on. The bed was too high to sit on as your feet wouldn't touch the floor. I had just had a hip replacement and so my wife had to half sit and half lie on an extremely uncomfortable materess.||The water was never hot enough to bath or shower. The toilet seat was broken.||The food was dreadful. We ordered steak one night with vegetables. It arrived almost raw (I asked for mine well done). All that was on the plate was a steak and potato chips (crisps) no vegetables at all. Another night I ordered shrimps with salad and pasta. It only had 4 half shrimps, no salad and a plate of cold pasta. We left a day early as we needed to shower and clean up and couldn't sleep as the bed was so uncomfortable (room 104) The manager was extremely rood when we asked to get something done about it.||I wouldn't give this hotel any more than a 2 star rating and advise everyone not to book to stay there. I had stayed at this place a few times before but never for more than one night at a time. Even though they were ful for the New year period they did not made it compulsory to include the New Year Gala Diner, like other hotels we have contacted did. We stayed here for 3 nights and ended up going to the diner anyway. The atmosphere was very pleasant and the service was really excellent. The staff is very helpful and extremely amicable. This is not a hotel for everybody. You must have a certain nostalgia for this old fashion places and really appreciate all that goes with it but if you do this is a place that you must visit. One day there may be not enough people enjoying this but I pray it stays like...

The personal was friendly and attentive. The hotel badly needs an interior renovation (walls painted, floors re-sanded, carpet renewed). Everything else was fine, nice decoration but really felt let go. Water pressure was good, hot water ok, very clean sheets. The food was abundant, but lack of trying was seen here too. The starters for lunch and the dinner were the same both days. Okay, but boring. Some of the food seemed reheated. Service was 4.5 stars, kudos to the employees. Location was very nice and quiet.
