Misericordia de Boavista — Hotel in Odemira

We had the best summer escape here. Tucked in gorgeous countryside just outside Odemira, the place feels like your own little world. Quiet mornings, birdsong, and endless green in every direction. On a couple of evenings we even spotted wild horses grazing near the property; if you’re lucky, they’ll wander close enough to admire them up close. Nights were unreal, the sky is so clear you can actually lose track of time just stargazing.

Days went by so quickly with a big pond nearby that’s perfect for a refreshing swim or even a little dive, and by car you’ve got quick access to beaches in every direction. It honestly felt like a perfect hub for exploring the coast. Groceries and the small-town charm of Odemira are close enough for coffee runs and pastel de nata, and the train station is handy if you want to hop to nearby cities without driving.

The house itself is comfy, well laid out for groups, and stocked with what you need so you can focus on relaxing. I came with three close friends and we left with the kind of summer memories you keep for a lifetime. BBQs on the terrace, lazy afternoons by the water, and quiet starry nights. If you’re looking to trade city noise for nature, beaches, and a peaceful base to slow down, this is the spot. Highly recommend and will visit...

Fantastic House, very spacious and clean, offering all the needed confort, in an absolutely silent and very beautiful and quite remote area of Alentejo. Very friendly owner and very friendly and helpful local contact. The house was built around 20 years ago in an absolute visionary mode for that time when almost nobody was thinking seriously about the climate. The building was insulated from the beginning for saving energy and it's having own independent water source and electricity supply via solar panels. Internet connection is superb and comes via satellite (Gen2 Starlink dish), so in case you need to do some work there, it's perfectly possible. But my recommendation is, go out, check the area, smell the discrete perfume of the air coming from the trees and plants, reconnect with nature, do some yoga or meditation if you want, switch all the lights off at night and watch the most beautiful sky full of stars you've probably ever had. The perfect house for coming back and writing one day...

We had an incredible weekend at Misericórdia de Boavista. The house is spacious yet cosy, with everything you could need for a comfortable and memorable stay. One of the highlights was having three beautiful lakes within 100 meters of the house — perfect for swimming, relaxing, or just soaking in the scenery.

The surrounding nature is truly special, with countless birds, deer, and even rare breeds of horses roaming the property — an amazing experience for wildlife lovers. From movie nights and ping pong to hiking and stargazing, there was always something to enjoy. The house is also fully equipped for cooking, BBQs, and beach outings....
