Refugios is a family-run place set in the most beautiful part of Portugal. The photos on the website don't do it justice; it is a collection of rooms which have been finished to the highest standard using local material where possible. Our bed was enormous, extremely comfortable and made up with lovely linen. The pool is set in the beautifully cared for grounds and was bathed in sun from dawn until dusk. There is a little bar which we were told to help ourselves to....there is a little pad of paper to write down what we used and so the price (low) was totted up at the end of our stay. Breakfast was included and comprised meats, cheeses, eggs from the family's chickens, homemade jams and fruit from the trees in the grounds.So the accommodation was perfect but what made our stay extra special was the amazing hospitality of the hosts. They were such a friendly, helpful, cheerful lovely family who went out of their way to ensure we had absolutely everything we could have wanted. Read more..some people suggest you should not stay at a property that has less than 10 reviews...wrong, wrong, wrong...this property opened the doors in March 2016, that's why it has only 1 review on TA...this property took 3 years to build, the eye for detail is second to none, the rooms are superb, the pool area & gardens are stunning...as for the the family that run this property, they are a delight plus they spoil you rotten..if you are in the area..book in...my prediction, give it 6 to 12 months and you might find this property hard to get in...I nearly missed visiting this property because it had...

It's a family run Posada and you can really tell that they have take pride in what they've created and what they're doing. There's not a lot of food options around.
