Estela Surf & Hostel — Hotel in Póvoa de Varzim

My experience with Estela hostel and surf is a 10+ !||The family goes beyond expactation to make you feel home, at ease at peace. It is really an allround experience where you want to go back to all the time.Its really nice you can book the option for a pick up from the airport. There you will meet Marco who will tell you all about the family, the adventures of dog mimi, the waves, his love for food etc. Then the hostel is really nice and super clean! Raquel has this superpower cleaning the bathroom after every use. I dont know how she does it. ||They are super generous and flexible; I wanted a private room but the first day that room was in use, so they blocked a whole shared room for me.||The rooms are clean, fresh, spacious, and if you want, your bed will be made everyday and the floor is cleaned. After surfing, and/or a nice, wine you will sleep like a baby. The breakfast provided is all you need and there are a lot of options: bread with cheese and or sweet stuff, yoghurt. Fresh fruits. Coffee, tea, juices, milk etc. The open and bright kitchen is also a very nice area to hang around||Around 8.50 Marco will hunt you (its a joke ;-) in the breakfast area to make sure you can leave at 9.00 for the surf class. You leave for the beach in their van and sometimes Mimi the dog joins too. The waves, equipment, classes and warm up are great. They want you to have fun and the atmosphere is amazing. People cheer for you when you catch a nice wave. The photos you get are a really nice memory. If you want to explore the area after surf, Raquel and Marco can give you recommendations and even a ride to go somewhere. But if you want to stay home and just chill; the garden with hammocks and fruittrees are a great place to relax. And there is always the bar where you can stay for a beer. The sweet dogs will always keep you company.||Raquel is an amazing chef and you defenitely want to join for dinner. If you tell her you are a vegetarian she will make an amazing veggie lasagna. ||If you eat fish; you are in luck because they will find the freshest fish. There is always great wine, great food, great music and very special hosts including the son Rodrigo who is very helpfull and nice!||The hosts are really great people, who are so warm and nice and thoughtfull and generous. They helped in so many ways: called a store where I left something, borrowed a sweater, and are great coversation ppl and they have a lot of great stories.||Try to visit the nice winestore and eat sushi at the beach.||Also nice to know: this sun and water gives you the best tan ever. A perfect place, great people and good waves!

I was searching for a surf camp that's suitable for beginners and found this one in Estela. The rating was 5 out of 5 which was "OMG how is this even possible"? Raquel is a super amazing host, she cooks delicious dinners which I miss so much. Marco is always helpful and gives great surf lessons. Their son Rodrigo is always friendly and can show you great photos of him doing surf :) They keep the house sparkling clean and do so much for their guests to feel like at home. The atmosphere and amazing. There are many people doing Camino de Santiago, folks from all over the globe, chilling in one amazing place. Good vibes only. I was unlucky to need insurance and they had it for me. Marco brought me to the hospital and helped with everything I needed.
