NAU Morgado Golf & Country Club — Hotel in Portimão

Positive Points:

The staff was very friendly and attentive, promptly accommodating all our requests after booking. The breakfast offered was of good quality, adding to our overall positive experience. The hotel is situated in a very quiet area. Parking was easy and accessible, which made our arrival and departure hassle-free. The daily room service was efficient and kept our room in clean conditions throughout our stay.

Negative Points:

The room we stayed in was in very poor condition, with noticeable signs of infiltration. This issue was also evident in other parts of the hotel. The swimming pool water was extremely dirty, and we suspect it may have contributed to us feeling unwell during our stay. There were not enough lounge chairs available at the pool area for the number of guests, making it difficult to find a spot. The meals and beverages available at the hotel were overpriced. The only reasonable option was to drive elsewhere for dining. The hotel’s facilities are quite spread out. From our room, it took over three minutes to walk to the swimming pool, which was inconvenient. Although we didn’t experience this ourselves, there are internal (locked) doors connecting rooms. This could potentially lead to noise disturbances between guests.

It’s worth noting that the hotel’s default response to negative feedback in online platforms is to claim that these issues were not brought to their attention. However, it should be expected that evident matters, such as the condition of the swimming pool water or infiltrations in the rooms, should not be tolerated in a four-star hotel, especially given the cost of staying there. The resolution of these issues should not depend solely on guests raising them during their stay. This behavior only makes me hesitant to hope that these matters will be addressed...

We received a warm welcome on arrival. The girl at reception was friendly and helpful. We got a room upgrade. The room itself was spacious, clean and very comfortable. The air-conditioning was fantastic in the hot weather. There was excellent WiFi connection. We had a beautiful view over the golf course. There was a coffee machine in the room however only 2 pods were free after that each coffee pod was 1.50 which is excessive. We bought our own coffee pods at a local shop. Portimao is a 10 minute drive from the hotel. ||We had breakfast and dinner as part of our package and it was well worth it. The buffet for both had a wonderful variety of food and it was a joy to dine there. I do wish however that veggie options were labelled a bit better. ||We didn't use the pool while there as the adults only pool was full of children every day. The pool did look beautiful and they supply you with towels for the pool. ||I think the thing that I loved about this hotel the most was the staff. They were friendly and helpful and so thoughtful. We had to check out early this morning (3am) when we said this last night the receptionist ( I think her name is Ana) she offered for us to have a breakfast bag ready when checking out which was very kind. And in one final act of exceptional customer service this morning we collected this on check out. What we received was a very generous breakfast bag. We had enough food for a snack on the plane along with a final taste of Portugal at home here in Ireland this afternoon. ||The staff here are not only a wonderful reflection on the hotel itself but also on Portugal as a whole. I really hope someday we get to return and experience their hospitality once...

The best thing was the view

Where should i begin, let's start with the positive, the view was heavenly and the room was very quiet except our first night. The hotel is very private. The breakfast was delicious. My favourite, pastel de nata off course.

Then there were some issues...

The first night was a nightmare for our son because we had a room next to the pool so we could hear the poolpump inside our room, pumping, knocking noise. The frontdesk staff, a very friendly lady changed our room the next day.

The cleaning was not done well in the rooms except for 3 days, our second, third and fourth day if am not wrong, was done very good. The rest of the days the bed was made up and there were new towels, and thats it. For a hotel like this and the money you pay you expect them to clean the floor, mirrors, the big terras, etc...

The staff in the restaurant looked always sad... except the lady and man who made eggs for the guests and the bartender.

Then i wanted to book a cake to surprise my son for his birthday, so it was all possible and even with no charge. Guess what, they forgot... big disappointment. The nice gentleman at the frontdesk apologised and gave my son some souvenirs when we checked out, thank you for that.

The pool was not welcoming, very dark, it should be light blue and inviting to swim in it. Also no arrangement at the pool for drinks or snacks. So not really kids friendly.

The hotel is also too private, from the security check you have like another 10min drive to get to the hotel. So a...
