Just returned from a 2 week stay at this 4* hotel. I’m from the UK a solo older male traveller and was very happy that all the reception staff spoke good English ! The word “Attitude” in the title accurately describes what this hotel is all about. No Complaints whatsoever with the service I received, and the rooms were spacious, spotlessly clean and beautifully maintained by the dedicated staff ! The “Theme” of the hotel is modern contemporary and “Black” hard to explain but everything is “Black” from the bedroom fittings (lights, décor, etc}…everything is black! This is not a bad thing but has disadvantages - The corridor that leads to your rooms are “DARK “ The only lighting is at floor level. So especially on the first visit it was difficult to spot your room number on the doors - OK after a few attempts I got used to this, but I still feel that better lighting is really needed! Food at Breakfast is very good – lots to choose from and does change slightly from day to day. They have a “Bar Snacks” menu which is available most of the day which was good and reasonably priced. I had one evening meal in the restaurant (which you can’t just decide on the spur of the moment!) You have to pre-book it which I find a real shame and haven’t been used to these restrictions in my home country or anywhere I have been on holiday before – only Portugal which is a big shame as the food was really good, and the price was what you would accept from a hotel. Perhaps this is the reason at 7.30 pm I was the ONLY person in the restaurant (someone did arrive later) So not exactly the best atmosphere eating in a deserted restaurant. Lovely swimming pool with “Sun Beds” almost in the pool ! a really great atmosphere and they had “Black” parasols you could operate yourself if the sun was too strong, The music they played in the outdoor areas including the swimming pool was excellent IMO and used I “Shazam” on my phone to find out what the songs were and glad I did. They also have a Spa which is chargeable but I didn’t use this.
I have to point out one thing that bugged me which even though they have “Maintenance” staff on site this has been either ignored over overlooked… The area outside the bar where there are covered tables for drinking and meals etc,- they have Black “Railway sleepers” sunk into the ground – yes looks great and a nice feature ! But and a big but – These black sleepers have warped over time and have become loose – the result is – if your table is sitting on one of these “Loose sleepers” and you have drinks and food on your table – then some unknowing person walks by and treads on the loose sleeper under your table then all your drinks spill ! like they did to mine ! And you can’t blame the bloke for heavy feet “! It’s not his fault it’s those blooming sleepers which have probably never been looked at since the day they were installed. Come on Maintenance staff !! get this sorted for future guests !
Ok Gripe over and if you are still reading this then YES a good hotel but you need a car or be happy to take UBER’s everywhere. There is a great LIDL next door which the prices are unbelievably cheep compared to the UK ! Lucky you who live in Portugal !! I only found one other restaurant / bar - 8 min walk away from the hotel behind the petrol station called the “Cabana bar” in AMORA – This was a Godsend, and they did great value meals and drinks!! Very friendly staff and super company to tourists. HIGHLY...

We had booked 5 nights here - the reviews are pretty positive, so we had high hopes. On check-in we were greeted by a shy and poorly trained 'child' receptionist who was unable to explain anything about the hotel other than directions to our room. We went to look at the 'spa' and were disappointed to find that that our stay did not include entry to the indoor pool, and this would cost €12 per person per day. The hotel decor has been described by many people in reviews - it is black: walls, ceilings, mannequins, floors - the lighting just can't penetrate it, and the place looks gloomy, in a modern gothic sort of way. On taking the elevator to our room (323) we were overcome with the strong air-freshener smell - thinking perhaps this was to mask some other smell, we went to our room - where that too smelt of air-freshener or perfume - a nasty overpowering strong artificial smell. We opened the balcony door to a view of the road to air the room and get rid of the smell, it wasn't a busy road so we didn't worry too much - even though our booking said a room with a view.. evidently this meant a view of the petrol station.. On retiring to bed, we noticed that the pillows and bedding were saturated with the perfume smell that pervades the hotel.. Not nice! Breakfast was a farce - the children that run this hotel could not cope with the number of people in the dining room and many items such as coffee, bread, pastries, hot food items and fruit were not available. There were a couple of bowls of what looked like trifle jelly and some cheese however.. Though we had booked 5 nights here - we asked to see the manager, Mr Wehbe, at 10:30am and told him we were going to check out and outlined the reasons why. It appears that when we booked our stay, the booking company linked from the hotel's own website had taken the full value of the 5 nights from our credit card - we obviously asked for a refund.. but were told that we would have to take that up with their booking agent HOTUSA who are based in Spain.. After a couple of calls and subsequent visits back to reception (who had initially told us they could not process this, then they could only do it when a receptionist returned from leave later in the week) - a representative of HOTUSA called us to tell us that we would be charged for 2 nights and refunded for 3 - when we asked why, we were told that it was now past the 12:00 checkout time! We completed a Livro de Reclamacoes (official complaint) form - and left a message for the general manager Mr Farid Wehbe that we were not pleased by their dishonesty - but not wishing to ruin or holiday or waste time arguing further we left for another hotel. Not a nice experience - and this hotel...
