We came to Minho for a small family get away in a party of 6, including 2 grandparents and a toddler. The main attraction we were looking for was to spend time together at the swimming pool.||||When we checked in (after noon) we were told we need to book a time for the swimming pool. We go down and try: "kids are not allowed after 12, because they bother other guests". Which guests? I don't know, since you book the whole pool for your group. Back up at the lobby the manager tries to dodge the clownery of having such a rule by saying that it was written in the tiny print in booking.com that it was a rule. Stupid guests, didn't read that unique rule that no other hotel has!||||no problem, we carried on with our stay and booked our breakfast. When we showed up with our group of 6 all we could see was: some 20 empty tables in the whole breakfast hall, one of them occupied and we were offered a small 4 person table to fit all 6 of us. ||||I proceeded to grab one more table and put it next to it so we could actually have a 6 person meal. Staff said: "we can't change the layout of the restaurant!". I understand and appreciate the Covid restrictions but I didn't know Covid was such a picky virus when it came to table layout. We squeezed into the 4 person table and ate.||||We travel a lot in Portugal as we have family there and we have always been super well treated and amazed by the hospitality industry there until meeting Minho. If you are coming to Portugal, stay anywhere except in Minho, there are great places all around the country!||||Minho was a terrible experience and a choice we'll never make again. Don't waste your time...
Read moreThe hotel is centrally located near EN 13 , the train station is only a couple of miles away, so it's easy to get to. It's fairly close to the Minho River for eco activities like running, biking, boating, etc. The rooms appear to have been remodeled within the last couple of years, so they are clean and fresh. The rooms have a balcony and overlook the central pool area. The facilities look great, but I didn't get a chance to use them. The staff is helpful. On the negative side, the room lacks the convenience of a charging station for electronic devices. Or conveniently placed sockets. I had to move furniture to get to the socket next to the night table. As for the bathroom, the shower is a good size and has a bench, which I thought was a nice touch if the ladies want to shave their legs. That said the toilet and bidet are squeezed next to each other in a too small a space, and they made it worse by putting the toilet payer dispenser in an ackward location. Almost makes you sit slightly sideways cause of interference from the dispenser. But the thing I liked the least was the mattresses, too soft, I like more conventional...
Read moreWe had booked a “Suite” for two nights in the “Hotel do Minho” in Vila Nova de Cerveira, we got the “Almada Negreiros” suite, which has two floors, with lounge, bedroom, two bathrooms and two terraces. There is also free parking at the hotel. We had a problem with the air conditioning and we had no internet connection, after a phone call to the reception these problems were solved in no time, for which a big thank you to the lady of the reception for sending us a technico. Our stay was very pleasant and the staff were very friendly and attentive even at breakfast. This is certainly not a complaint, but if we can give a tip, then "Fresh Fruit Juice" may be given at breakfast, especially for a 4 star hotel. But in any case, we would like to come back in the future, especially to enjoy the restaurant “Don Júlio” who...
