Our large family group of 18 rented this Quinta in its entirety for a self-catering stay for 5 nights and we had a great time!||It is rented out as a B&B usually but is also available for group stays if nobody else is staying during the time you book. (we found it on vrbo but booked directly with the quinta)||It was clean and very well-equipped for group stays: with a good-sized working kitchen and 2 fridges/2 stoves (small dishwasher though), great coffee/cappuccino machine, bar area, and 2 sitting and dining areas, as well as a large terrace overlooking the hills of Douro which provided a very peaceful setting for our meals. All the bedroooms are upstairs and all good-sized with comfortable mattresses and your own bathroom.||The pool off to the other side of the house is huge and deep! Lots of shaded areas to lounge, and we felt like we had it to ourselves the whole time even though there were other guests staying in a smaller house on the other side of the terrace. We rarely saw or heard them. There is a communal BBQ on the terrace that we used a couple of nights, and the other nights we either ordered food for takeout or delivery, or went to Vila Real for a restaurant meal. The owner is planning to install an outdoor kitchen/BBQ poolside for next summer.||The owner Manuel was very helpful, and addressed any minor concerns immediately. His daughter Fatima was our point of contact, and she was excellent. Gave us lots of suggestions, helped us book restaruant and tour reservations, and was there to greet us and show us around when we arrived.||It was really nice to have individual ensuited bedrooms with good AC at night when we needed it. During the days, the large stone house is kept cool naturally.||We also enjoyed the company of their 2 dogs and a few...
Read moreFantastic accommodations, breathtaking views, kind and welcoming staff! We stayed for 4 nights with our toddler and would have gladly stayed longer, aside from the unfortunate wildfires in the region. Manuel and all of the staff couldn't have been more gracious and welcoming, we felt really well taken care of. Luxurious bathroom with a soaking tub. Wonderful breakfast spread - good coffee, loved their fried eggs and ham, and super fresh pastries, maybe the best pastel de nata we had in Portugal. Really excellent for families with kids - multiple play areas with toys, books, kitchen and doctor play sets, a shallow pool for little ones and an impressive large pool, even a big indoor hall to run around with a huge trampoline and inflatable bounce castle! The location is ideal - both remote and peaceful, but easy to locate, with good phone & internet, and a short drive to Vila Real, Regua, and many wineries. Oh, and make sure to taste the port wine!||If we had to come up with any negatives, the mattresses are quite firm which may not be ideal for everyone, and the A/C was a bit finicky - either too cold or too hot, not circulating the room evenly. But these are very minor gripes. Definitely bring bug repellent - the mosquitos can...
