This Hotel did surprise me, it was a very quiet hotel, there is carpet throughout the whole hotel, the room was more than big enough for two people, the bed was very comfortable and I had a good sleep, as we all know some mattresses can cause a bad night’s sleep, also in this hotel there was carpet laid out in the rooms areas, this was very good seeing that you didn’t hear anyone walking to their room.||I had a room with a balcony, as far as I could see all the rooms facing the front had one, this is good when you are a smoker, the room was clean and tidy, I wanted to watch television but sorry to say there programs in German or English langue, but I did find a channel showing a film in English, but seeing that I was only there for two nights it was ok.||Those working at the reception, were more than helpful and did their best to answer any questions or give help if needed, but it must be said that English is a great help, I used the restaurant in the evenings and I must say it was very good, the service was fast and the meals were as expected.||The breakfast was good not quite up to the standards as to what one is use to, but again it is a different country, here also the main thing in the morning is the coffee, here they had a very good automatic coffee machine and the coffee was good.||||The whole complex is very large, they have an outdoor pool and I am sure that in the summertime there is a lot going on here, they have a wellness...
Read moreThe song of the Gypsy Kings „Baila Me“ always reminds me of a journey to Romania, not because of the stunning village of Buzescu (which unfortunately I didn't get to visit) but because of the similarity of the song's name with the name of the small town of Baia Sprie, Maramures county, in historic Transylvania. What else is there in Transylvania besides Dracula? They have skilled local merchants who will try to drink your blood by selling local products at ten times the prices they sell those products to the local people. They have a small chocolate factory that, hell, produces chocolate with the same name as a renowned candy factory in Croatia. They have a tourist association, whose employees confirmed to me that I am the first Croat to enter their town since the seventh century, when my ancestors headed for the Adriatic Sea in a campaign of destruction across the Carpathian Mountains. There is also a hidden hotel, in village Dănești, where you can find comfort and peace. The hotel on the slopes of the Carpathians is called Secret Garden. Friendly and professional staff, neat and fragrant rooms, solid breakfast, swimming pool, lots of greenery... That's enough for me, I don't ask for anything more. This hotel can be used as a starting point to visit the remarkable wooden churches of the Maramures area and visit the magnificent mountain landscapes of the Maramures Mountains...
Read moreIt's a 4-star hotel + ultramodern wellness centre on the edge of a forested expanse, in the middle of a very big artfully landscaped garden, ca 20 km. off Baia Mare.
