From 4 stars...to 1 star!
I'll gladly change it back to 4 stars when they improve their booking system.
There are no lifts. There are rooms on the ground floor and they're the same as the others.
The last 4 times I stayed, in the Maxim, I booked about 6 weeks in advance by email. I asked for a ground floor room. I have a new disability and I really struggle with stairs.
On 4 seperate occasions I arrived to find that the rooms hadn't been reserved for me. I had even checked with them the day before.
They receptionist was very polite. Very friendly. And smiled as he shrugged his shoulders and gave me a room on the second floor.
By the time I got myself installed in my room....I felt dreadful.
I politely complained, the first time. I asked them to get it right for my next stay 3 weeks later. They said that they would. They didn't.
The same receptionist smiled and told me that it's ok. I was lucky. He had a room on the second floor.
If I hadn't already booked the next 2 stays I wouldn't have gone back.
After 4 lets downs, I can see that they really don't care. When thigs go smoothly, it's a very nice hotel.
When they make a mistake, they don't bat an eye. They're so thick skinned. After all, I would be gone the next day.
If you're able bodied, it's a good hotel. If you have problems with stairs and you get a ground floor room....it's a good hotel.
If you require anything from them that involves any kind of planning or care...find another hotel.
It's a real shame. I've been staying with them for years. Now, I stay in a different hotel, very close on the other side of the road. I can't remember it's name. It's not as good but they know how to reserve a room there.
Able bodied people....you will enjoy staying...
Read moreThis time it was awful the Maxim restaurant’s service. It was a charity after someone’s death. We were like 40 persons. The waitress was very very slow, I asked for an expresso and she totally forget it and didn’t bring, asked twice for sour cream and waited for 20 minutes to bring. She said she will bring it only after so serves every soup plates to all 40 guests.... usually the sour is the first thing you bring tot the table.Only one and very slow waitress. The soup was delicious. The second plate the one from the picture below awful... some persons had a very roasted piece of meat others had kind of raw meat not very well prepared. I was very disappointed. Nevertheless, I want to point up that the waitress brought the sour cream without a spoon to serve... I asked for it and waited again. Very disappointing... I’ve been here before at other events and I enjoyed them. But...
Read moreThe enterance is nice designed, staff was one of the most friendly and helpful we have ever met (and we have stayed at a lot of hotels). They kept our luggage for 3 hours in the reception after check-out and they called the cab for us.||What we didn't like:|- For us, the bed was incredibly uncomfortable, so we decided to move to another hotel||- Air condinioned is directly orientated towards bed which makes it almost unuseful (unless you don't mind to have headaches during your staying)||- Room seemed...unfinished. Furniture was not made for the room, it is quite obvious because there are large spaces between closets and walls.||- Food for breakfast is...avarage. Sure, you don't live hungry, but they don't really use quality ingredients/foods||- They do have an espressor and Illy coffee, but they served us typical coffee made with coffee pot (on the cooker)||We...
