Outstanding and a must where you are in the heart of Transilvania. The place was for a long time abandoned by the local council but Michelle and Arnold gaved they re very best of they re time and energy and funds to build back up this lovely establishment and reconstruct the spirit of Herr Brukentall back to the Avrig city .Im sure that the work paid off the day they reopennned the gates of the castle to the public offering them the best of the best what the region has to offer to its guests .Been there only a few times now as we live abroad but when we travel back home we always make time to go and visit this lovely special place as the service and the attention to details is remarcable and one can feel special here .Authentic local cuisine together with a lovely decorated salon makes one feel just like in a fairytale back in those days when royals lived .Outside garden is a must also for the little ones specially as they do so much for the kids like no other establisment in the area .Staff is well prepared and owners are a delight ,in winter they organise all sorts of events and the most known artists visit this place on a regular base. Its good for the city and it promovates Transilvania and its people .One must be proud of just being there close to the mountains but all the rest what this place has to offer makes the experience unforgetable .Thank you for taking care of us always and see you guys in a...

This review is about the restaurant, which is far, far from the current rating of 4.2 (I would give it a zero star ⭐ if possible). After going there for a few years enjoying a wonderful service, food, experience, now things are exactly the opposite. We ordered food and socată drinks (very refreshing fizzy drink made of fresh soc flowers that ferment in time with lemon and sugar - we knew from the past socată is excellent there). The waiter (dressed in a varsity jacket instead of an appropriate waiter outfit), brought 3 glasses of warm water with some disgusting syrup in it and a little dirty slice of orange (you can literally see the dirt embedded in the orange skin). When asked, the waiter explained it was made of soc syrup and had the audacity to affirm it was "socată". I told them that was not socată and they should inform clients ahead of time that the drink was not an authentic socată and that it was made of syrup and not charge 21 lei for warm water with some sugary syrup. Told them I was not paying for that disgusting drink. They offered drinks on the house and apologized for food not arriving and let us know there would still be another 15min for our food (we had been waiting 20min at this point already since we ordered). We waited further and after a total of 40 min with no sign of food arriving we got up and left. Very poor and extremely disappointing service. Avoid...

Perfect for a short drive away from the city. You can enter and visit the gardens for 20 Ron / adult, for another 20 Ron you can visit the glass museum and the old Sasi museum. The glass one is part of the remaining pieces of the factory that was in the past in Avrig and was closed few years back. The second one it contains old artifacts collected from the region. Here you also have some costumes available if you want to try on and take pictures. The lady from the entrance gate is very knowledgeable and like a walking history book and so is the old man inside of the glass museum, which is an old employee of the factory. The Orangery terrace is lovely and quiet and the food was decent . I do recommend it for the particular relaxed atmosphere.

I recently had the pleasure of staying here, and it was a memorable experience. Our room (room 1) was spacious with impressively high ceilings (5 m) and beautiful arches that give the place a majestic feel. The bathroom had exquisite tiles, featuring glass windows and a romantic bathtub. The value for money was really good, especially considering the amenities included. We had complimentary access to a large heated pool (20x20 meters), which was a fantastic bonus. Upon arrival, we were welcomed with a refreshing glass of lemonade while waiting at the reception, a small but thoughtful gesture that set the tone for our stay. The gardens are meticulously maintained, offering a serene and picturesque environment.

It is still under renovation. It has few spaces arranged, but in one of the rooms you can dress in medieval clothes, arm yourself with medieval weapons and take pictures dressed like this inside or in the garden. A second visitable section is dedicated to tradition. The entrance ticket is 20 lei for adults and 10 lei for children / students. The staff is very friendly. The palace garden is beautiful and landscaped. At the orangery you can serve a traditionally prepared drink called "socata", a very tasty apple strudel with vanilla cream and the prices are reasonable. It is worth a trip to visit, with family and friends.
