Pensiunea Dacica — Hotel in Boșorod

THE LOCATION- Turn on your GPS, drive slowly, get ready for a Twin Peaks view if you're coming during the day, and for a Blair Witch Project if u're coming by night but however, you'll reach it without any issue.

THE PLACE- In the middle of Hateg wildness, surrounded by littl'mountins, this location becomes a HOME. You will find there anything possible in order to forget where u came from: cosyness, clean rooms, loving animals, a big yard, outside patio, a kitchen with Tv, books, perfect food, and places to hike or visit by foot, just across the road.

THE HOSTS- a warm and professional attitude from the first person you encount to the last one.

THE CLEANING- all perfect. And btw, there is no mouse! There might be noises from the roof, due to bats or cats.

THE ROOMS- not big, not small, pretty cosy, warm & clean, traditional home deco, no TV (trust me, you won t need it!)

THE FOOD- The only regret of your foodie life will be leaving this place! :)One of the best traditional food, big portion meals, flexible eating schedule depending on guests, possibility to purchase some of their products.

THE FRIENDS- Along some good hosts & other tourists just like you, you will meet new special friends: two shepard dogs, Coada de Purcelus( the most loving dog soul, also on Extasy- always jumping & doing circus), Bucurel- the brown wise dog, 4 or 5 spoiled cats ready to love you without asking treats, and a donkey with his gang of sheeps belonging to the neighbour. Adding also a horse, very patient when it comes to Instagram & Facebook photosessions- I recommend :) Saying good-bye to our new speachless friends, was probably the hardest part of our departure...

THE EXPERIENCE- This is not a regular accomodation, this is AN UNIVERSE. A place full of love. You come here to activate all your senses: to sleep well, to eat better, to connect with nature, to drink a good tea while reading also a book from their own DACICA collection, to yoga or simply lay in the sun getting your natural vitamin D, to exchange oxytocine with your new "friends" I ve previously mentioned, to hike a bit or to visit some nature places around and to enjoy your own company, hear your thoughts & feel your heart.

The place is pure magic, starting with the fact that it is positioned in Gradistea Muncelului National Park in the heart of the forest, late autumn and spring is the best time to visit. This region is one of the most beautiful you will see in the world in its own particular way!

If you are a foreigner and want to have a trademark Romanian experience, here is the place to find it.

Where do I start?

There are at least a dozen cats on the property along with dogs who protect the place from bears and wolves so you won't likely see any. It doesn't matter if you are a cat or a dog person, they will melt your heart, I know they have melted mine.

The food is phenomenal, PERIOD! It is traditional food, soul food, not a la carte, but believe me when I say this, it's been a loooooong time since I have tasted traditional food like that, locally grown vegs and meats 100% organic(store bought is too far away :)) for one)!

Perfect location to hunt for mushrooms, the landscape is littered with them. all you need to do is take a 20 minute walk and there you are 2 hours in hiking on a hill not wanting to stop, happened to me.

Last but not least are the people that make it happen, people in this part of Romania have a deep warmth to them, they have a calming and relaxed attitude towards life, there is a soothing way that they talk, inherit wisdom springs to mind, and it is contagious, you will burry your burnout in the garden and leave it there, trust me!

Having read this, keep in mind that the place is usually sold out, as many of these locations are kept secret by the locals, so do please call well ahead of time and make sure to keep your promise and come and stay with them, you will not regret it!

This is an entire complex. They have different types of accommodation, they print books, they make preserved products and alcoholic products. They offer meals which are really consistent (soup particularly was great, desert as well ). Salad and water and brandy included. Children get their own small menu with all dishes for free, this is very cool and more than enough. The dogs are great and they can take you to the Piatra Rosie Dacian Citadel. Lots of books around and there is also a shared lounge. Room is comfortable, a bit too dark. We appreciated the heating turned on during night, it was very pleasant and without this it would have been cold for sure. Surroundings are great for walks and spending time outside. Accommodation was cheap in no breakfast option, even with breakfast it's great deal. Breakfast was delicious and very wide, gems and confitures over 15 types, fantastic milk and yogurt, 30 lei per person. People were nice and helpful. Issues / opportunities to improve on 2 areas: food price-quality and noise. Food expensive for quality and without drinks - big city center level - but you can choose what to take from each dish (no real restaurant alternatives nearby). The chicken with rice was basic and not worth 35 lei as a chicken very plain dish. Chicken/rice seemed reheated in microwaves being done a bit earlier in the day. Probably other mains are better, there is big potential. The bathroom door gets stuck after you close it. Wood used in guesthouse makes it loud / poor phonic isolation and we were unlucky to have a family of unconsiderate neighbours with bad parenting skills above us, kids running until 23:30, adults stomping after them plus yelling and then wake up in screams at 7:45 for 30 minutes.
