Well I have taken longer thinking what to say about this hotel than anywhere else ever.||||This is a lot more than just a hotel but it needs to make its mind up exactly what it is.||||Ploiesti is an industrial city about 50 mins to an hour's drive north of Bucharest. There are oiul refineries, textile factories and engineering works. It is a solid city with super people but definitely not a holiday resort.||||We were going out there to a wedding and the venue was Pik Elegance so we booked to stay for 3 nights.||||It has the most stunning swimming pool and I can forgive a lot for that! Loads and loads of loungers and a pool bar and music playing - you could lie back and think you were in Italy (the language is similar)||||Firstly it is in a 'zona industriale' so is surrounded by light industrial premises down a side road - and yes, there's a few stray dogs roaming around....||||So we arrived and straightaway I saw the flight of steps up to reception. 24 of them - outside and no lighting. Pretty lethal up the side of the building and just a rail on one side. THERE IS NO LIFT !!!||||I have 2 knee replacements so this was a bad start. The receptionist however was friendly. The first room she couldn't get the key to work and she took us to another (good job as the first room we later saw looked out over an oil refinery!) and that was horrible - it was an internal room with a obscure window. I said no, it was claustrophobic.||The third room was delightfully light and bright with a wrap around balcony a large bed and a large bathroom. All well and good..... until we came to use the drawers and found rotting food in there :-( YUK||Mercifully this room was on first floor/reception level.||||The bedding was clean but after the first night we realised the bottom sheets didn't fit (it was 2 single beds pushed together) and the sheets came out in the middle as they were too small - and left us lying on bare mattress. Not good. No mattress topper !!||||The other hilarious thing was it did not have curtains - just a frill along the top! So as we overlooked the pool and the ballroom we had to get changed in the bathroom !||||The shower was the most difficult I have ever had to assemble. Yes, it was in bits but after drenching most of the floor as it kept springing off the stand we managed to secure it at a sensible heat.||||It was a nice shower and the towels were adequate and clean and a bit fluffy, The toilet and basin were clean - but there were no shelves and no hook on the back of the door. Nowhere to put anything or hang clothes.||||So the room itself was large light and airy - but only had the 2 bedside drawers and one small other all of which had had rotting food in.||There were only 2 hangers in the wardrobe. It was little Fawlty Towers sort of things - how it could claim 4 stars I don't know, maybe on size.||||The bed was extremely comfortable and we slept well when we had sorted the sheets. The air conditioning was temperamental and was on/off all the time and ditto the electricity . The receptionist seemed to say they had their own generator but it was low (if I understood her correctly, not the national grid)||||Wifi only worked out on the balcony which is better than nothing !||||There is a large indoor pool too with many children arriving for lessons and lots of tennis courts, a bouncy castle, and various sporting acitivities.||||I think it only has 19 bedrooms so it clearly majors on sporting activities and events eg weddings. Being a hotel seems to come very much last on the list.||||On our last full day out we returned at 5pm to find the room unmade and the air con off. It is sloppy to put it mildly....||||BUT the wedding event in the Grand Ballroom was superb, cannot fault it (except for the electricity going on and off !) The room itself is magnificent with white decor and a balcony and a dance floor. The service was impeccable, faultless and the table settings and waiting staff perfect.||There were many courses (I lost count) but all well presented and excellently cooked.||I would imagine it is as good a place as any in Ploiesti to get married. With the illuminated pool as a backdrop it was magical.||||Be warned though if not at the wedding bash (and there were 2, one in the ballroom and one in the restaurant) the music goes on until 6am and is very loud !||||The next night we decided to eat in the hotel so we went down to the restaurant. It was totally empty, we just stood.... and a youth in polo shirt and shorts came over. He waved at a table for 10 (!!) and the 2 of us sat down. At this point he handed us the laminated pool bar menu !!! I explained we wanted the restaurant menu but that was it.||My husband ordered a beer and was told there was none. Enquiries revealed he could go and get a Pepsi from the machine !!!||||We didn't fancy spag bol or beefburger from the pool menu so at this point he shrugged which always annoys me - so we walked out.||We got a taxi and went and ate at La Placinte in Ploiesti Centre which is just brilliant (I have to go back there many times to work my way through the menu!)||||So top marks for the wedding, about 4 out of 10 for the hotel, 0 out of 10 for the Restaurant and 10 out of 10 for the fabulous pool which i just loved.||||Would I stay here again ? Probably not unless they got a lift installed . I would also want to vet the room for basics like curtains and food filled drawers ! It wasn't a bad experience all round and we loved Ploiesti and love Romania.||Such a beautiful pool might draw me back but I would hire a car and eat in Ploiesti.||||Little things need attending to - I would only recommend it with reservations ||||If I were booking a wedding in Ploiesti I would book it every time.||||I hope they read this and make some improvements to access, cleaning, curtains, showers, air con and electricity.||||The pool is perfect :-) The people were absolutely lovely especially reception staff who spoke...
Read moreMy family - parents and grandkids were driving as refugees from Ukrainee to more safer place in Europe. Decided to book two rooms in this hotel on BB basis. Since I work in tourism i mae reservation via my partners - 6 tours srl - the company that i cooperate with for last 10 years. Rooms were booked and paid. When my family arrived they were just given the keys from room and were told that the breakfast will start tomorrow at 7 a.m.. When they came next morning they were told that - THEY HAVE TO PAY the rooms by cash, even though rooms were paid already on BB basis. And also manager said that the rooms were booked without breakfast!!!! i advised him to check the voucher where it's written that the breakfast is included - it was the main reason for this hotel to be booked - to be able to have a breakfast in the morning and continue the trip!!!! Then manager said that their kitchen starts working at noon and that my family should wait till this time if they want to have a breakfast!!!!!! My parents paid once again by cash...... DO NOT reccomend this place to anyone!!!! Once again - they were not on vacation, they were running from war, they PAID both rooms in advance..... and had to pay twice by cash! My partners refunded the money for the hotel, but it's not the way i expected everything to be!!! if my parents, as a refugees haven't had cash.... they had to sleep on...
Read moreWorst experience in a hotel ever. The room was filthy, the carpet was stained. In the bathroom there were papers that said everything was cleaned, but the toilet was extremely dirty, just like a public toilet, did not even use it because of that. The shower looked like it was never cleaned. The matress was yellow, not white, and full of bedbugs. Woke up itchy and tired because of the awful bed. There was dust everywhere, if you leave a t-shirt on the table it will probably get dirty. I know it is a cheap hotel, I am not expecting the 4 star rating to be real, but it should not even be in business as it is a legitimate health hazard. If I had known how bad it is, I hould have prefered sleeping in the car. Really really bad experience. As for the breakfast, I did not even have the courage to go there, left right away after waking up. Also if you need something from the reception of a so called 4 star hotel forget about it, there is no one there even...
